That was when all of them were free agents. I don't think u can redo a contract in the nba like you can in the nfl.

They don't need a PG that scores 25 a game if they keep Harden.

but they do. they have harden and still desperately need westbrook's aggression and scoring. it opens up durant's game

The best thing for Durant, and OKC is a pass first PG

the best thing for durant is a guy who handles the pressure of being the leader and who is super aggressive in the lane, opening up everything else for durant and the jump shooers

See, I'm not going to say what OKC has going right now is a bad thing. I'm not one of those Westbrook haters..I just think a pass first PG, a solid guard in Harden, Durant(2nd best player in the Association)and Ibaka would work great.

Point Guards are similar to RBs in the NFL in my opinion, dime a dozen and theres always (maybe not this year) a PG in the draft that can step in and lead a contender to a championship.

Yes but both of those guys have already had their giant contracts full of $$$. I doubt either of them would have done that 5 years ago, which is essentially what you're asking Westbrook to do, bc somebody is going to give him a max deal for several years

They never should have extended Perkins. He is decent at best and not the worth the strain on the salary cap.

Westbrook and Durant must be kept. I think Ibaka should be extended if possible.

I think Harden should be the odd man out if you can only keep three.

I think that's the debate in this teams future. Do they need a more of an Allen Iverson PG or more of a John Stockton PG?

IMO, I think they can do as well with a passing PG who has a good outside shoot and good passing skills as with a PG who drives and makes his own shot.

Who was the last Championship team to have an elite PG when they won the title? Rondo and Parker were good when they won, but not elite. I don't think Fisher or Billups fit that bill.

And I'd say it's more important to have Durant, Harden and Ibaka than just keeping Durant and Westbrook. At that point they almost become a younger crappier version of the Celtics.

It is fricking nuts how much Westbrook is underrated.

He is a me-first player. He does not pass like a real PG.

Who gives a frick? He is a great basketball player and at times the Thunder's best player. The dude has unparalleled explosiveness and an insane amount of talent. He takes so much shite for absolutely no reason just cause everyone is always beating off to Durant, so Westbrook is the scapegoat when they lose. It is pretty fricking moronic.

that's about $60M in salary for just those guys. OKC can't afford a $70M payroll

next season the Lakers owe 4 players $71 million

+100000 too many people listen to the talking heads on ESPN that tell them westbrook and Durant can't coexist

there is a yin and a yang with westbrook and durant

durant is passive, not really emotional, but is the superior player. however he's not really physical and he can disappear for times as a combination of the lack of aggressiveness and physicality

westbrook is super aggressive and tries shite he shouldn't do. sometimes he's out of control. but, unlike durant, he refuses to disappear and will keep coming and coming until it's over

i don't really think many people argue this anymore after last year's playoffs, this year, and this year's playoffs

I agree with all this.

And Westbrook is an awesome player. But I think it's more devaluing the position rather than the player. AI was a great PG who scored and was aggressive and did all kinds of crazy shite. And he got to the championship, but didn't win. You can win a championship with great players at other positions and above average PG play. That's what I'm saying.

That is why I love Westbrook. Yeah, Durant is the better player. It would be foolish to argue that Westbrook is better, but then again, this is the MSB.

Vicks is right...not to mention he is a beast that nearly any other pg cannot cover off the dribble...dude makes the lane collapse...his court vision will come, but when you are young you have hungry eyes

i don't think that the position "point guard" really exists on the thunder, honestly

dude has averaged 8 assists per game twice in his career. he scores more now and gets fewer assists b/c that's what they want him to do

Is that because of the players they have though?

If you put CP3 or Rondo on the Thunder's team they would be a lot different. Again, Westbrook is great, but high scoring PG's usually dont carry a team by themselves. I'd rather build around Durant than Westbrook is all I'm getting at.
