Kinda going off the Trojan War thread, but I think Reggie Bush doesn't get enough credit these days for just how great he was in college. Obviously, the scandal and probation taint his image pretty badly.
He's still the only college player I've ever seen live and stood up in my seat every single time he touched the ball. He could do things that I didn't think were possible; electric doesn't begin to describe what it was like to watch him in person. He was a different kind of RB, obviously.
Weird to think that he's still only 30 and still playing. Seems like his SC days were forever ago.

Nostalgia and weak teams(Walker and Campbell won national titles) Ricky was a better college back than all of them

He was incredible. The best highlight machine I've ever seen.
But I think something that takes away from Bush is the difference in competition between USC and their opponents. Bush was unreal, but he was running through enormous holes with a full head of steam nearly every time he got the ball. That offensive line and the balance of USC's offense was possible more impressive that Bush's speed and agility.

He was great at UT, but the later flakiness might affect how pundits remember.
When he played, though, he was dominant even in the NFL. It's a shame he threw away his prime.

Walker did, Campbell did not.

Nah, Walker was better, if he played 4 years (like Williams, Dayne and Dorsett) he would still hold the rushing record.

I was talking about it this weekend, people compare Fournette to Peterson is style and size but the situation reminds me more of Williams. Williams Heisman year, I'd tune in to watch him, like people do with Fournette, he was special

No question he's an all time college great

So if he plays the 2004 season does Wannstadt keep his job and Saban stay at LSU?

The one nobody ever talks about is Marshall Faulk. I remember catching all of his games late at night when he was in college. Huge home run threat everytime he touched the ball. The SDSU/BYU game was still one of the greatest games I ever saw..

The real one no one ever talks about is Ron Dayne. And he actually is in a similar situation as LeoFour. Big backs, with poor QB play, big line, and everyone knew Dayne was getting the ball.

im not that old so hard to come up with a definitive list. Ive seen Ricky play with my own eyes and his resume matches up, so Im pretty sure should find his way into most top 10s
Herchel Walker
Barry Sanders
Bo Jackson
OJ
Archie Griffin
Ricky Williams
then go from there

The Bo and Herschel comparisons are because of fournette's rare combination of size and speed. All 3 were natural freak athletes since early high school.
Ricky didn't have the speed of those 3. Different style, but definitely a great college rb.

No Billy Sims or Adrian Peterson? Ladainian Tomlinson? Earl Campbell?
Posted on 10/14/15 at 2:34 pm to StringedInstruments
Reggie Bush is one of the greatest regardless.

i considered all them. LT and Peterson would be on my personal list. Campbell really only had 1 standout year. Looks like he got injured as a JR, and was pretty good as a Soph. He outdates me, though.
LT and AP are both top 5 that ive seen in my lifetime
Peterson
LT
Marshall Faulk
Ricky
Willis McGahee

I would go with these guys (no order)...
Campbell
Faulk
Bush
Dickerson
Simms
Rozier
Bo
Herschel
Griffin
Dorsett
I like Rickey but not sure who you take off that list. Reason I did not put Sanders on it was a 1 year thing. I wanted to put Anthony Thompson for his run but I do not think he was as talented as the rest.

but Reggie Bush finds his way on there? Earl Campbell to an extent.
and if you want to look at body of work, here is Ricky Williams, just a refresher.
As far as a body of work goes, there isnt a player on that list that can top that, outside of maybe Herschel Walker or Dorsett.
