Alabama won the SEC regular season. Doesn't make a lot of sense to put a bunch of teams in the playoff that finished below them bc Bama has to play an exhibition game & they don't.

Bama will be in because the conference commissioners do not want to get rid of the championship games.

They did exactly this to Auburn

The world has changed since then. They didn't have to prop up the idea of conference championships in 2017.

Based on what????

The committee moving Alabama ahead of Notre Dame seems to indicate that Alabama will be in even if they lose. I’m not saying it’s a guarantee, but it seems to be the prevailing thought that Alabama is in unless they’re blown out.

I just assume everyone was mad that 11-1 Alabama got in over 10-3 Auburn. And then Pride said you did.

I'm in the "wins matter" camp. All things being equal, especially in power conferences, a three loss team should not get in over a one loss team. But the talking heads and committee types fudge other factors to get the results they want.

They should not have lost to a terrible FSU team. The system is what it is THREE losses is THREE losses. Every Bama fan would want Bama to jump any other team that would lose in the SECCG. Fact.
Who wants to bet he didn’t have this same energy when a 2 loss LSU was making a TWO team playoff?

I will say just from a competitive standpoint I’d rather see Bama play than another G5 team like JMU which is highly possible if Duke beats UVA.

A 3 loss team should NEVER be in the playoff. Unless nobody has less than 2 losses.

They didn’t ask to play in the SECCG

But with that being said, if you’re in any game, it’s a good idea to win it

My one drawback and granted it is in hindsight. Don’t lose at home to a middle of the road at best OU team. If we had just a mediocre offense we blow their doors off at their house.

With a loss, they are out. As they should be.

They're in as long as they don't get blownout. The odds reflect that too as they're still a good favorite to make the playoffs

So you play the top 12 teams in the country, lose 3 of those and you don't belong?

So a 5-7 FSU was a top 12 team?

Bama has nothing to support them getting in as a 3-loss team. The only team with an equivalently bad loss is UT losing to UF who ironically beat the doors off FSU.

No they didn't. There is no more regular season championship. They tied for the best record and held the tiebreaker for overall conference opponent record.

There is no "regular" season champion if they don't all play each other.

Not even when they’re 7-2 against FEI top 40?

Idk if I got that right

It depends on how the game goes. I think they are likely still in if it is a very close game.
