New question: what are the odds that this playoff system stays after this season?

0.0%

This was cobbled together when the split was voted in without a coherent implementation plan

The LHSAA stands to lose a bunch of money with staging so many games for state titles.

The private schools just need to bring back the old LISA and all of them play in it with 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A classes.

Then pair the Lhsaa champs against the Lisa champs for an all louisiana championship if any of the Lhsaa schools have the balls.

All the current mpsa schools could come back to Lisa.

that will not happen...

but I am sure the 5a powers like Destrehan, WM and Acadiana will continue to slap the 5a privates...

the only 5a private ever to beat WM is now in 3a.... being ECA... they have never lost to a catholic school under shows...

and Neville and Karr would still be 1-2....if all of 4a was combined.

That is the Mississippi Private Schools Association I believe. They have several schools in LA....The ones I know for sure are Bowling Green School, Ben Ford's Academy (both in Washington Parish where I'm from originally), and Silliman.

Also, I believe that Steven Ridley played HS ball at a MPSA (now something like MAIS - Mississippi Association of Independent Schools) school.

I often wonder why public school supporters that champion against "football factories" are for West Monroe. That is the biggest football factory north of I-10 (post-Booty era at ECA).....and some would argue maybe equally as "factory-ish" as JC.

Central Private is part of MPSA as well.

.Yeah what some of these nonselect schools haven't considered is that the split doesn't make them any better. It only makes them seem better

I noticed they have a lot of teams in Mississippi,Tennessee, and Arkansas. Do they play each other or only teams in there state.

How competitive is it

My knowledge is pretty limited on the subject.

I know that they play schools in Mississippi for sure, like Adams County Christian School and the one in Woodville, but not much more than that.

The only reason I know squat about this is that we had a guy quit our football team in a huff and transfer to Silliman so he could play immediately, due to switching leagues, as well as another guy who left to play at Central Private because he was sure that he had a better shot at a baseball scholarship playing there.

Posted by oldtimefootball John Curtis has more black kids every year. This is not in any way to bring race into this discussion. You have got to be kidding me if you try to tell me that these mostly underprivileged kids have the money to pay the thousands of dollars that a private school costs. We will never get any information from John Curtis administration about who pays for these kids. Do you honestly believe that these kids are not having their costs forgiven or paid for by someone else? John Curtis had the opportunity to play all the way up to 5A when schools could make that choice. They chose to play in 4A when ECA did choose to play in 5A. So does that make John Curtis 4A victories tainted because they didn't "play the best" as some argue that public school championships this year will be meaningless? I have admiration for most private schools; they don't forget that their primary mission is to educate. I have nothing but disdain for John Curtis and ECA because they did everything they could to bend the rules for their benefit. Championships are determined between peers; they never were and are not now peers with public schools that are bound by an attendance zone and have to take any and every kind of student. Do you wonder why the word "Select" was used to describe private schools? THANK YOU WINNFIELD PRINCIPAL JANE GRIFFIN!

I did not attend Curtis, but had several friends who did. Some of those friends did play football. Many of those underprivileged black kids, and underprivileged kids in general who attended that school, parents had to work in the cafeteria or otherwise in order to meet the money requirements for tuition. Many of those underprivileged black kids and kids in general parents also had good jobs that allowed them to send their kids to the school despite what you may think about most black kids or people being underprivileged. With the exception of a few players whom people may know there situation, how do you know that Curtis has that many underprivileged black kids in their school? How do you know their financial status to make that assumption? They did not just get a free ride as you are stating. Despite playing in the 4A classification, Curtis has repeatedly played the best teams in the state regardless of classification, and won far more than they lost. Win or lose, I never heard them cry about playing a tough opponent like I hear some of these school principals and others cry. In recent years they have also played the best in the nation and lost once so far to an out of state power. I've heard bogus complaints over the years of rampant steroid use and everthing else, but people seem to forget that over the years Curtis has had some of the best strength coaches in highschool and even college football today(coach moffit). This idea that everybody that plays or participates, is a champion and gets a trophy is exactly what's wrong with America today. That's not real life, and when young people hit the real world they don't know how to handle it because they are used to having the rules bent to make them feel good about themselves. If I remember correctly Curtis didn't always win in the early years of the school, but they built there program up over years and years of work. Maybe some others should do the same.

OUtside of families and students no one should care about high school football enough to go 250 miles.

I see highlights on the Friday night HS football highlight shows on local TV. Small, slow, white kids, and the occasional black kid who would be average in the LHSAA but who dominates in that league.
