re: How bad is Notre Dame schedule? Their 16 wins in 25/26 are against teams 32-78 against P4

I don't know why people get upset if they make the CFP. Should be an automatic victory for whoever faces them, right?

Actual blue bloods don’t go 38 years between national championships. Your program is a relic of the past.
Random question, why is Texas a blue blood? National titles in 63, 68, 70, and not again until 2005

That’s pretty wild considering they made the national title game 21 months ago.

The secret sauce we see now is to have a patsy schedule filled with big10 or acc teams
Notre Dame didn’t make the playoff last year, so not sure how the secret sauce got them anything. But they made the national title game 2 years ago, something no SEC school has been able to do in 3 seasons.
The current SEC schools had the most berths in the playoffs over that time and can’t even make a title game, yet everyone else just plays patsy schedules and that’s why they win.
Meanwhile, 4 different current Big Ten schools and Notre Dame appeared in the national title game the last 3 seasons. Nobody outside the Big Ten has won it. #patsies

I’m going to repost a long post I made last year which is still pertinent today about scheduling changes/challenges due to the recent mega-conference realignments.
The proposed 24 team playoffs have a rule that ALL P4 teams must play at least 1 non-conference Power team to be ELIGIBLE for the playoffs (for instance Indiana have NO non-conference power teams scheduled anytime in the future currently….. Cignetti cancelled them}.
This should incentivize P4 teams to play Notre Dame. We’ve made it clear we’ll schedule Home and Home games with anyone….. but it takes 2 to tango…..

The ACC is moving to a 9 game conference schedule in 2026 and 2027, so scheduling/rescheduling games over the next few years has been challenging (and frustrating) for both the ACC and Notre Dame requiring a lot of coordination and cooperation. ND is trying to do its part by upgrading both its ACC schedule but also its schedule with the SEC and Big 10.
Some of the future games *(all home and home) recently announced include:
1.) Notre Dame and Clemson will be playing each other for 12 straight years from 2027- 2038
2,) Notre Dame and Miami have already announced 2026, 2028, 2031, 2032, and 2034, with more games being explored.
3.) ND vs Auburn will be playing for the first time in 2027 and 2028 (just announced about a month ago).
4.) ND vs Texas will be playing in 2028 and 2029.
5.) Notre Dame and Alabama are playing in 2029 and 2030.
6.) Notre Dame and Michigan State are renewing their rivalry in 2026 and 2027 (79 previous games).
7.) Notre Dame and Michigan are renewing their rivalry in 2033 and 2034 and are in discussion to add a few games before this.
8.) Notre Dame will play USC next year. Unfortunately, beyond that it is unknown due to the 9 game conference schedule. It would be a shame if this historic series was cancelled. (Note: the 2026 games was cancelled after this post but 4 games have been scheduled starting in 2030).
Florida State cancelled the 2026 game (not Notre Dame) JUST a month ago. FSU replaced this game with NEW MEXICO STATE. I think this is where some of the frustration from the Notre Dame AD with some of the ACC teams is coming from.

I can see where it takes a spot away from a more deserving team
But we’re talking about the ND advantage of making their own schedule, but I would think it’s a disadvantage for them to not compete for an automatic bid in the CFP. They don’t have a conference championship to win if they slip up.

I'm being a sarcastic prick. All you hear is "ND doesn't play anyone!". Opposing teams should want to play them in the 1st round so it'll be an easy victory for them.

Yep. ND gets the eyeballs on the TV and that’s what this is all about
I can think of multiple teams in 2026 that would logically attract more viewers than ND, yet this idea persists. I’m not researching it, but does data really show that to still be true?

I was just making a factual correction.

From AI:
Notre Dame football averages roughly 3.92 million to 4.5 million viewers per game, while the SEC conference averages around 4.9 million viewers per game (with top SEC teams individually averaging between 5 million and 9 million viewers)
Notre Dame Football ~3.92M per game (ranking ~15th nationally) Regular season baseline average (though high-profile or playoff games scale significantly higher)
Hard to factor their importance in the high-profile games, but ND vs OSU for the national championship drew 21.5M while that last BAMA vs UGA NC drew 22.5M.

all else being equal, if state played Notre Bitch's schedule and had their special treatment, they'd be a top seed at least once every 3 years. with our starting backfield playing at 90% we'd dog walk their asses tomorrow. they're pathetic and no one takes them seriously.

Lol. Mississippi State has 3 consensus all Americans in their entire history with 1 over the last 20 years.
Notre Dame has 9 since Covid
Mississippi State has appeared in 1 major bowl since WW2.
Notre Dame beat the SEC champ and most dominant program in the SEC post-Saban en route to a national title game appearance 21 months ago
