20+ years old. It’s ridiculous but 30 is about the lifespan now.

So, is this where they are gonna build a new stadium as well when Houston won't fix up NRG?

Texans are more cucked to NRG than whatever flexing they do about moving

They won’t pay for a new stadium, rodeo isn’t going to want to move and their lease is dirt cheap

mixed-use sports and entertainment destination

Got it. So…upscale chain restaurants, some fancy outdoor mall with fountains and retail no one gives a shite about, and some condos.

The Rangers said, "You're a salute to classic baseball stadiums, and a work of art, but it's still freaking hot!"

That’s what the Star in Frisco is. Few mid tier restaurants, stores, bars, a hotel and some offices. “Destination”

Yup. It’s lame. The complexes that do this are typically all the same. They’re nice I guess, but pretty much a dime a dozen.

It's 35 miles from NRG, but still in Harris County.

Big sports complex part of the plan. Youth sports being a big part of that. Future tavelbaw-er's paradise!

Chevron is also planning to build a large campus there in that same area to rival Exxon's campus down 99 in the Woodlands.

Property values in Bridgeland and surrounding areas are about to have a nice jump.

Really?

I live in the Sugar Land area, and would much rather drive into inner-loop Houston for work than have to head all the way the frick up there. And have to pay over $5.00 in tolls each way to get there. The hell with that...I pay zero in tolls right now unless I have to divert onto Westpark just before the 610 loop to avoid a wreck in the mornings.

9-6-23 article. They bought the land a couple years ago and are still in the planning stages. Howard Hughes involved with this too.....

Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. announced Monday that Chevron U.S.A. Inc. had bought more than 77 acres in Bridgeland Central, a planned community owned by the national housing development company. Jim Carman, President of the Houston Region for Howard Hughes, lauded Chevron's acquisition as "a pivotal moment for Bridgeland as the community enters its next phase of development as a leading job center for the region."

Chevron is attracted to the opportunities Bridgeland has to offer and views this acquisition as a strong addition to our asset portfolio," Daniel Abate, Head of Corporate Real Estate for Chevron, said in a Monday release. "We take pride in contributing to the communities where we live and work and are excited about the potential of establishing a research and development campus in Bridgeland to advance our work toward achieving a lower carbon energy future," Abate continued.

Chevron's purchase comes after a recent announcement of the first phase of Bridgeland Central's construction, which includes an H-E-B grocery store and "the first mass timber office development for both Howard Hughes and the 12-county Greater Houston area."

Per Monday's release, Bridgeland Central mirrors other planned communities owned by Howard Hughes Holdings in several states across the country. Most notable among them is The Woodlands, the wealthy north Houston township where Chevron Phillips set up its global corporate campus headquarters in July 2002.
