When 3 mid-season acquisitions are logging major minutes for you in the playoffs, that's usually not a good sign.

Morey utilizing analytics and Sabremetrics, is great for regular season level efforts in getting Ws and stats..
Playoffs are about heart and chemistry..Sabremetrics doesn't have a good model to petri dish up that..it requires the Popp/West/Auerbach/McCloskey/Pat Williams/Riley/etc..eye and feel.
'Glue Guys' like a Bruce Bowen, Horry, Elie, Vinnie Johnson,etc..take savvy Playoff level GMs instincts.
Ariza, Brewer, Smith,etc..have shown regular season flashes for years that hint they could have it..but they don't..can't sustain it.

I think it also doesn't help this year that a couple of their guys with playoff minutes are out with injuries. Harden needs to play like the MVP this series for the Rockets to win, so it will be interesting to see how he comes out in game 4.

I'm sure Boom will be back in this thread at some point (after his usual disappearing act during a game that is a loss) to tell us about that 1 series in 1993 where the team who had a week off was rusty in games 1 through 3, then came back to dominate!!

Blake Griffin was horrible last night and they still won by 25. Austin Rivers won't play that well again, Griffin won't play that poorly. Clips are the better team and will win in 6.

It was complete domination by a fairly average player and a very below average player...because HOU's defense has been pretty much awful in these playoffs.

I'm glad he got rid of the neck beard

You know Charles Barkley is loving this...he took a ton of heat for ignoring the analytics on Houston's defense and focusing on the "eye test".

I think how Morey reshuffles the roster every year hurts them when the playoffs arrive. I think having a decent size group of guys that have been through the playoff battles together matters.
FWIW, Morey agrees with you on that. He was asked about it on the Grantland Basketball Hour this week and said he's been building in phases and he's now at the point where he's confortable with the core and only plans on making small to medium sized moves and will bring back most of the rotation. Whether he sticks to that when free agency and trading opens again and flashy new toys are on the market remains to be seen, but he does say he understands the need for roster continuity.
