Bobby Bonilla will make more this season on his contact than Paul Skenes.

For the Mets. Inflation has killed the value of the contract, just as predicted.

I looked at it again and it seems like a great deal since at the end he will have gotten $25.75MM instead of $5.9MM. But along with inflation that was mentioned, if he had gotten the $5.9MM initially and invested in just a safe treasury at 5% or so, he would have made over $30MM.

Revised: Not a good deal.

Great contract for the owner as well. He didn't even have to pay him anything, sold Mets in '02.

The Mets need to have some fun with this and have a huge Bobby Bonilla party on July 1, 2035. Get him to throw out the first pitch and then present him with a giant cardboard check for the final payment

Fantastic idea
They should do it annually, but definitely in 2035

Through 2035? Didn’t realize it was that long of a term…

Without doing the math, if he put in the $1M on each July 1 at 5%, that would end up well over $30M total after receiving the final payment.
