Loungefly85, what year did you graduate? I second that game you referenced; was a bitter cold game.
I also remember SL beating #1 Hahnville down in Galliano when LaRon Landry was the QB.
Worst- I think 2009-2010 season. Farmers 1st Year, in round 2 getting bounced out by Westgate. Team that year was super talented, led by Borne at tailback. First play of the game he took a toss sweep for about a 65 yard TD. Got called back because he supposedly stepped out. Lost 26-2.

Greatest win - Rummel winning it's first title in 2012
Most painful loss- Probably the 2015 title loss on the game winning field goal by Catholic.
The Shaw game in 2000/2001? where they beat us at Yenni in the Semis and held up a giant banner that said "You can have the megaphone, we'll take the Dome" was gut wrenching and sticks with me to this day. Then again, I think about who Rummel would have had to face in the Dome and it would have been one of those West Monroe teams in their prime

Graduated in 2004. Yeah I think I remember it being cold.

Patterson beating west Feliciana in the final minute of the semi finals my sophomore year
Painful loss losing to parkview by 3 the following week in the dome

Sorry but that st Charles team wasn't losing to anyone that year. They were phenomenal

Same here. Came back from being down big at half only to choke at the end. Just wish we had a field goal kicker that year with longer range. Dugas graduated a year too early for all of the pieces to be put together.

How times have changed for the better at my alma mater. Also a PHS alumni, and we won a total of 4 games in my 3 years of varsity - but we were 3-0 against Northshore.

Perilloux lost to Evangel in the playoffs his last game IIRC. I think it's the same year as my worst game. Losing to Hahnville in the dome. Great game and Hester dominated both sides of the ball even returning an interception for a TD. Unfortunately, Reynaud had a hell of a game too and they won like 41-34.
The Perilloux loss to Evangel was in the 2004 playoffs....same night that #2 seed Hahnville (defending state champs) were upset at #22 Slidell in the quarterfinals. Pretty shitty loss for us considering we were on a 27-game winning streak and looking promising to have a chance at a repeat. Slidell won 14-13 after Hahnville couldn't make a damn FG in the 2nd half.

2002...I remember a lot of people thinking LaRon would lead us to the Dome that year. Then we ran into fricking Alley Broussard who just completely ran over us. LaRon was gassed that game playing both sides of the ball. Shitty ride back home from Lafayette that night.

lost to patterson in the Q's 2002 after being up by 17 with 4 minutes left and recovering and returning the onside kick to the 15. score 27 points in like 3 1/2 minutes

I was at that game, just an elementary school student though but I remember. 2001 State title game right?

Fontainebleau - Getting crushed in 5A semifinal in 2004 vs West Monroe. The whole senior class made the trip up to WM and felt like we were going to walk out with a win after taking down #1 John Ehret the week prior. Game wasn't even close.

I wasn't at the game but I remember that happening. Don't worry north Webster did the same shite to us 2 years ago

frick those guys
That was a good old fashioned rape. Parkview rewrote the state championship record book.
Parkview ran a reverse double flea flicker in that game.
2001 Parkview was disgusting.

As a Ponchatoula alumni, the most painful loss is easily the 2014 2nd round home loss to Acadiana. Nothing can even compare.
Disappointing for sure but I wouldn't call it painful.
quote:
That was our year. We were ranked #2, loaded with talent (including Christian Campbell), and never trailed in our first 11 games.
Not only that but most games were over at the half. Campbell only played in the second half of a few games. I do believe that Ponchatoula was the best team in the state that year. I still believe that was the state championship game that year. We didn't lose that game because of Campbell getting hurt. We lost that game because our defense hadn't yet learned how to play against that quick snap veer that Acadiana runs. The defense could never get off the field.
quote:That was pretty satisfying and its finally nice for Ponchatoula football to get respect as a program from every corner of the state.
Our greatest win was beating #1 West Monroe at home in 2015 to finally reach the 3rd round.

That's right. Hester was already at LSU in 2004. That's the last year they let Evangel play in 5A. They were still able to beat West Monroe in the dome. WM went for 2 at the end of the game, but little Banks I believe, fumbled and Evangel won by 1. Last time those two juggernauts squared off.

Semifinal matchup. Jesuit versus Ruston. QB Perrin Rittner (LSU walk-on) gets flipped head over heels by LB Robert Peace of Ruston knocking Perrin out of the game fairly early. With Perrin out, neither team can do anything on offense. Ruston fakes a punt to score the game's only touchdown. Ruston wins 7-6 and goes to the dome.
Best win? Might be one I didn't see. It was a homecoming game. Shaw was a super power lead by Shyrone Carey at QB. Shaw was up 35-7 or so (31-21?) at half. A group of friends and I leave to get ready for the dance thinking the game was over. Jesuit would come all the way back to win the game and upset Shaw.

State championship, scoreless tie for most of the game. Gave up a long TD on a screen pass late in the fourth quarter and lost 7-0.

I wasn't at the game (was a member of ULL band, and our homecoming game was the following day), but I recall a possession where Acadiana fumbled the ball and we had the ball in Acadiana's territory. We couldn't score. It was after Campbell got hurt.
But not being familiar with Acadiana's veer machine didn't help either. As some guy said in another topic, it's hard to stop Acadiana if you never play them.
