This includes traditional as well as spread option QBs. A few names pop out almost immediately: Darian Hagan (Colorado), Eric Crouch (Nebraska), Pat White (West Virginia), Tim Tebow (Florida), and Tommie Frazier (Nebraska).

Not the best but Dak is certainly better than a couple of those names.

Not sure I would consider Tebow an option QB. But if he is, Tebow has to be the answer.

Strictly option QBs would be Frazier for me.

I assumed triple option, not read option.

Tebow?!?! Hell no! Was he one of the greatest college football players? Sure. Definitely not one of the greatest option QBs though.

I would offer Kennan Reynolds as well (dude did break the all-time NCAA touchdown record).

Eric Crouch was fun as hell to watch though.

This can be triple option, read option, or power option. This is the greatest option QB in college football history. It's all encompassing, no matter the style or formation.

In this case, how can it not be Cam??? He never lost a game and beat some unbelievable teams all by himself. Not a Cam fan but can't argue with the talent and results. I believe if he would have come back for his senior season, he would have won another heisman and title. Do y'all remember how dominate he was???

You don't think Cam Newton was one of the best (power) read-option quarterbacks in CFB history? Even though he only had one season, he completely dominated SEC competition at the height of it's power.

Colin Kaepernick from Nevada, after rushing for over 4,000 yards in college?

Brad Smith from Mizzou, who also rushed for over 4,000 yards in college?

Brad Smith is a good choice

The one people seem to always to forget also is Charlie Ward. When they went "Fast Break" he was reading and optioning most of the time.

It's his options were passes.

Colt Brennan was probably the best Run n Shoot college QB as it had been figured out and he still lit people up.
