He would have won the 4 team playoff in 2024 if it didn't expand. OSU would have been ranked #4.

Oregon
UGA
ND
OSU

Thankfully, all those games happened in the playoffs so we know who the better team was.

ASU and Boise would not have been 3/4 in that system.
Texas had zero wins over top 25 teams
PSU lost to OSU head to head

Texas and PSU played in CCGs, which before 2024 counted when rankings came out. Both would have fallen behind OSU with the same number of losses and OSU having 2 top 10 wins (Indiana and @PSU).

He didn't. They passed the ball 15 times in the second half (actually 18, but I'm not counting their last drive where they had to pass) and ran the ball 10 times. And they got 4.6 ypc on those 10 runs.

Yea on one drive, I looked at the clock. It took 8 seconds to run 2 plays in the 3rd quarter. 8 seconds left the clock and I'm looking at a 23-3 game. He needed to actually go more conservative potentially bc OSU was running the ball fine all game

don't think he played conservative. Jeremiah Smith just didn't catch the ball on 2 or 3 targets in the 4th quarter. Hitting one of those or the field goal wins the game. Credit to Texas for shutting him down.

Also Sayin missing a walk-in touchdown

It's going to be pretty funny when he gets fired while simultaneously having the highest winning percentage in CFB history.

Yeah no shite.

A conference championship game
a playoff game
Top 5 matchup on the road.

The loss to Indiana was by a field goal, you guys got your doors blown off by 35 with the whole country watching.

You inbred fricks sure are retarded

Weird way to discredit winning a national title as the 8 seed.

Its funny every single time he blows a fourth quarter lead in one of these big games, we always think man this one will wake him up, but then it happens again. Even in the national championship game, he just about allowed notre dame to come back in the 4th after being up 31-7. He just does not have a killer instinct to close out these games. Nick Saban would step on your neck and end it once he gets you backed into a corner.

You are absolutely right. Ive had problems with Ryan Day for several years because of exactly what you stated. Its cost us games numerous times and nearly cost us a few more. To be fair, I think Coach day is a good coach, just not an elite coach.

i've felt this way about him for a while. I don't personally care for him, but that's just because he's coaching at OSU more than anything.

Ohio State is consistently a good (not elite) team that beats the crap out of a weak schedule every year and can occasionally win a big game but often loses them. A lot of times it's coaching mistakes.

that being said, Just about everybody but Bama, Clemson, and Georgia would like to trade the last 5 years of history with them and they're lying if not.

Nick Saban lost plenty of games where he was up and didn't close the deal. He was up big on OSU in 2015 and lost the game.

Everyone is having very selective memories (all bad right now) about Day.

Did he not have it to close out Tennessee and Oregon in 2024 playoffs? Or how about Clemson in 2020 playoffs?

You aren't going to win every game you play against good teams. The errors on Saturday were way more player errors than coaching errors (outside of the not letting TX score I think that was a bungle). If Sayin makes a throw or two more, or if JS makes a catch or two, or if OSU gets a stop on EITHER 4th down inside TX territory.

You can blame the coaches for sure, but execution errors by players were a huge issue in this game

Clemson and Alabama would trade over the last five years. Especially Clemson

He might just be the most overrated coach in all America. Had it not been for the expanded playoff in 2024, he likely would be part of the FOX broadcast team right now. That roster is filled to the brim with talent and showed out in the first half. However, the man went into a shell in the second half and played not to lose. You can't do that against a Top 5 team who is playing the game at home.

Just give him another 10+ years to develop.

Ryan Day and Tom Osborne seven full seasons after inheriting elite programs:

Day: 79-12
Osborne: 65-18-2

Day vs. Michigan: 2-4
Osborne vs. OU: 1-7

Day vs. Top Ten: 15-10
Osborne vs. Top Ten: 7-10

Day: 1 national title.
Osborne: 0 national titles.

Day just needs time to figure it out.

why are we just making stuff up? He's 8-7 against top 5 teams. He's no Urban Meyer, but how many programs have been better since he took over? The blown leads don't look good, but people are fricking delusional.

Wasn't Bama filled to the brim with talent the last 3 years (top 2 in composite talant)? No national titles

Georgia has been filled to the brim with talent the last 3 years. No national titles

Texas has been filled to the brim with talent, no titles. Oregon, LSU, A&M, ND all top 10 talent each of the last 3 years

None of those teams filled to the brim with talent has done more than OSU has over the last 3 years.

well to be fair UGA, Texas, and Bama have all had to slug it out with one another during the season while playing an SEC schedule while OSU gets to play iowa/minnesota/northwestern/purdue and devote 11 weeks of planning on michigan. Last year's completely out of nowhere IU darkhorse notwithstanding.

To put another way, copmletely and totallly switch UGA and OSU's schedule the last 3 years. Does OSU accomplish as much as they have in real life? I think anyone with logical thinking skills knows the answer to that.

In the last 2 seasons, the B1G is 8-2 against the SEC in Bowl/Playoff games. The SEC was 4-1 in 2023.

OSU played Oregon IU and PSU in the regular season in 2024 who all made the playoffs.

He got extremely lucky in that the 2024 CFP team pool was lacking with teams that had physical fronts.

Anytime Day faces a team that matches him in physicality and coaching competence, he loses that game 9/10 times.

i think my statement speaks for itself. they are good. they do win some big games. they lose some as well, barely being above .500. i guess i could have flipped "often" and "occasional" but the meaning is still the same.

i also said that 99% of the college fanbase would happily trade for OSU's success over the last 5 years.

you're taking a light criticism that he's not as consistent as somebody like Nick Saban as saying he sucks, when that's not what I said at all.
