I just think we can't compare people to Saban. That's like saying "this QB is pretty good, but he's no Tom Brady" about someone like Drew Brees who won a superbowl.
I think you can absolutely criticize Day for some of his decisions, but I also think there are maybe 3 coaches in the country you would say you want for the next 10 years at your program

He was up 21-20 at the half. Let's not kid ourselves. Ezekiel Elliot ran through our defense like shite through a tin horn that night. We had a 21-6 lead early in the second quarter but it didn't last long.

His clock management is poor, but that's maddeningly common among college coaches. What sets him apart to me is his inability to manage field goals. Seems like he never takes the ones he should, then ends up desperate for one late.

I think Ryan Day, to an extent, is the victim of his own success. Football happens, there’s always going to be inexplicable losses coupled with good wins.
He seems to be the only coach (along with maybe Kirby) who can have just 5 losses going back to beginning of 2024 (by a cumulative 18 whole points, most of which 10 vs Miami) and everyone is looking around like “what’s wrong with him?”
If he didn’t have a NC, I think we can say something. And yes, he didn’t build Ohio State from the ground up, and his losses seem to come at some huge moments, but roster management is a big part of being the head man. At some point, we have to give him credit for that not hold it against him when he doesn’t go undefeated every year.
