Not really, historically Bullet baseball has kids from Jennings west along I10. Actually Bullet baseball is now a softball program that only fields 1 baseball team and I think they are 12 yrs old but they have never been a feeder program for Barbe.

The class that always played my nephew had nothing but Barbe hats/stickers on their cars. That was several years ago. Not surprised it’s changed.

They’ve always had Barbe kids but many years had many Sulphur kids also just as an example. My point is that most people have no idea of the time and effort the Barbe coaching staff put in not only developing players but also time spent preparing for games or opponents. I have known Glenn for quite a while in addition to having one of my boys play against his teams while at Sulphur and you will not outwork him, I’ve got a lot of respect for him along with his program. I have a son on his coaching staff and I have personally seen the hours and effort the coaches put in not only during the season but throughout the year. And I also agree he has had plenty of talented players come through over the years but so have Sulphur and West Monroe and his program’s success speaks for itself. I also believe SW La has a lot of great coaches throughout the area that do a great job of developing talent before the young players get to high school.

On a different note the WM/Zachary series should be a great one this coming weekend.

yeah hes a weird dude. Very type A, OCD, does things his way, and he has a twitch thats odd.

with that said, both he and his wife and two boys are very well spoken and church going kids. you can find much worse

He ruined Ryan Doiron’s arm.
Nick Bourgeois had a solid career at Tulane

Yeah he was notorious for throwing kids till their arms feel off.

And then they’d go play a position the rest of the time

Which travel ball program feeds into their program?

Bullets
BlueClaws

2 of those for sure.

At least they used to be. Maybe they’re just feeders into SLC Little League which feeds into Barbe. They don’t contend for Williamsport because they’re all just Rec kids. Come on guys. Give me a break. I see there’s two defenders that know the guy personally. But your bias slants your view. Josh Prince was a Sulphur legacy. His entire family were blue and gold for years. Until it was Josh’s turn and he was “living with his aunt” in LC. Know need to try to throw the scent off here, defender guys, everyone in the area that knows about HS athletics around here knows what he does.

Blue Claw is out of Moss Bluffif and if anything most of those kids feed into Moss Bluff/Sam Houston and as I mentioned earlier Bullet barely even plays baseball any longer(1 12 year old team) and has been that way for several years. We played for and against both of these organizations over the years so I was pretty familiar with both of the groups.

How much of his success is development at the HS level, vs. having a feeder travel ball program that feeds into the program?

Isn't the South Lake Charles Little League often competing for regional and world series berths? I feel like they were in the LLWS recently.

Southwest LA is full of plant baws with some money and not a lot of high schools. I'd imagine there's a lot of money paid for travel ball down there.

But baseball isn't the team sport like others are. It's not like football, where the youth league coaches start teaching the offense/defense that the local HS uses, so by the time the kids get to HS, they know it. Baseball is still a rather individualized sport. So if the coach is plugged in to the local leagues, he knows which kids to "encourage them to move into his district".

I remember playing against the Bullets growing up. That's back when travel baseball was about who you were going to high school with. The travel team I was on had about 15 kids on it. We all were going to go to the same high school. Now you're lucky if there's 3 on one team going to the same high school.

Travel ball needs to get back to that. High school coaches would have more reason to be involved.

LC is a very hot job market and if parents move in and have a good baseball player, why wouldn’t they live in Barbes district?

LeBlanc

Topham

Johnny Thibodeaux
Trey Quinn

All those guys grew up in LC

Congrats on the State titles, but I would take Catholic BR's pipeline to LSU baseball any day of the week.

He threw 5 or 6 innings in the quarterfinal against Ponchy, then 3 or so innings a day or two later in the championship game against Jesuit. Most of the neutral observers in the stands thought it was kind of reckless, and his career at Tulane certainly didn't disprove that thought.

Insane raw power. No idea where he came from or how we got to Barbe, but good for Cecchini for figuring out a way to make it happen
