But don't say "we can't get enough volunteers for tomorrow", that's weak.

Not just any slapdick can put on a high-vis vest and work a corner. Marshals have to be trained, so I guess the question is could they get enough trained marshals to volunteer for Monday? My step-uncle is a marshal for Indy, and he had to work his way up from being a bitch to a marshal. I'm not sure how it works over in Europe.

F1 always has an extended summer break in August. It's a European thing. Not sure why that's a deal breaker for you.

Uh, a month of no races? Not hard to figure out. Typical europeans tho.

I've moved on to Indy and moto gp, but your point isn't lost on me. DtS was the best and worst thing for the sport.

It isn't just a month of no races. They lock the doors and shut off servers to prevent people from working. I'm sure some work is done, but even the shutdown is regulated.

MotoGP routinely takes July off. Including this year.

I don't really watch IndyCar anymore but I just looked at their 2021 schedule and *gasp* they raced on July 4 and then their next race was August 8.

And the Dutch love it. I’ve been chatting with them the last few weekson the internet and they go in and on about how “thats Dutch culture. We always speak the truth. Other cultures can’t handle hearing the truth.”

I do a lot of work in Europe and particularly the Netherlands. They do love to talk about how direct (truthful) they are.

The Dutch are more direct than some of their counterparts in southern European countries, but, by and large, they are full of shite about being more truthful.

Race car driver with a chance at winning the WDC and benefits from getting points in the race wants to race. Breaking news!

Okay since I clearly have to spell this out. If you think you can't get enough volunteers to work on a Monday when they would otherwise have to work their day jobs, you simply have to pay them. Problem solved. That's why this was an awful excuse.

Like I said, no doubt 90+% of them would gladly call into work to work the event Monday morning.

FIA decides to give Stroll a 10 second penalty the day after.

Reasoning, he changed his rear wing. He was supposed to start from the pit lane when doing so. Everyone started from the pit lane so there was no punishment. So then they wanted to give him a drive through penalty, but the race wasn't long enough. So they just gave him a 10 second and sent him to the end of the standings a day later.

What a clusterfrick of a "race"

Why didn't you just say that to begin with I ain't got time to read between the lines.

Considering the taxpayers of Wallonia can barely keep the track open as is, I doubt they're too keen on adding dozens of staff. And knowing Europe, they probably have to give them two months of vacation and 24 months paternity leave for the four days they work.

Saw a rumor yesterday that Bottas will take his spot, prior to the break Bottas and his people were spotted hanging around some of the Alfa people so I’m assuming this rumor has legs.

It does make sense. The obvious reason Mercedes has not made an announcement yet is that they have been trying to place Bottas in the best car available.

Russell => Mercedes
Bottas => Alfa Romeo
Räikkönen => Rocking Chair

Or at least a courtesy to Bottas not to announce until he has landed.

To me Williams has a brighter future than Alfa. But Williams might be bringing up another driver

Hell, Williams has a brighter present. They're leading Alfa 20-3 in the constructor standings.

Really wish RB would have brought Gasley up next year and put Checo in the AT.

I like Checo, but his screw ups this year have been as much as his successes.

Who will Williams bring up when Russell moves? I really wish Hulk was back in a car.
