Perez will be back at red bull next year. I expect AT lineup to stay the same unless Gasly gets an offer, which I doubt.

LeClerc and Max both crash in FP. Both okay. Not sure about the cars yet

I’m liking the helmet cam that they are showing with Alonso.

Really shows just how blind Raidillon is as you come over the top. Now they need to add stabilization and eye-tracking to it.

Fans generally don't realize how bad the view is from the cockpit. The modern seating position is for the eyes to be as low as possible. The roll hoop camera view is very misleading. For some reason I think IndyCar has shown much more visor cam footage than F1 has.

Most people who play racing games or race sims probably choose the roll hoop camera to drive. I did that for a long time but finally forced myself to drive in cockpit view and now I'm used to it.

Vettel recently said that the new 18 inch wheels/tires make the view even worse.

https://www.planetf1.com/news/sebastian-vettel-2022-tyres-kerbs/

quote:

“The big wheels make the view to the front even worse.”

Visibility will be further hampered by a regulation that states the 2022 cars must have flow deflectors protruding over the front wheels which will make it more difficult for drivers to aim at the apex.

“With the covers and the big wheels, you can’t see the kerbs at all,” he said.

Actually looks like oil on the track. Shitty place for it.

Abbie Eaton, who we know as the test driver on The Grand Tour, was one of the drivers in the crash. She's OK.

Damn there's not a lot left of the 95 car. Amazing everyone walked away from that okay.

I think it was just rain. Hamilton was complaining about a bump in Eau Rouge. Maybe the combination of the two is what caused the initial problem.

But some of those girls were practically at La Source when the crash started and still managed to get involved.

quote:

"They've kind of ruined it a little bit with whatever it is. I don't know if they have got a new patch [of asphalt] there, but there's a massive bump right at the compression point, which we've never had there before.

"It's really, really sharp up through the [body]. You feel it on the backside. But I'm sure they will fix it. I think has something to do with the mudslides, the rain, or something like that."

Could be oil though.

Hamilton did say the regrading of the complex after the flooding last summer leads to some peculiarities, so maybe water did just pool in a large spot.

With the amount of water that has been flowing over and through that area some ground shift could definitely happen.

For those that don't know Eau Rouge is named for the river/ditch/bayou that runs under that part of the track. Red from minerals or something.

No discussion around Honda confirming RB down to one engine each and that they will likely take a grid penalty at some point the rest of the season?

Mercedes may have to take one too. Nobody's ever done 23 races on 3 engines. But I guess RB is going to try to limp along for as long as they can. If they only use the new engine for races and the cracked one for practice they miiight be able to avoid a penalty.

Also I just want to say that Alonso-cam is the best thing F1 has done in quite a while.

Rain making for an interesting quali.

Yuki out again after Q1. He might get dumped. That car is better than that.

Mercedes has just seemed a bit careless strategically this year.
