#1 reason anybody with money goes broke... people get it into their heads that they must own a business... just let the money build interest and live comfortably within your means for the rest of your life

After taxes, agent, and management fees, he probably legit only saw about $35-40M of that.
I have no sympathy for people that are multimillionaires that have nothing to show for it when they retire.

If he moves to Cali and takes a $25/hour job at McDonalds he can pay it off in:
$12,000,000/$25 = 480,000 hours
480,000/8 hour shifts = 60,000 days
60,000/365 per year = 164 years
So if he works at McD’s every day for 164 years straight and pays no taxes he can pay this sucker off

Travis Kelce spent his whole first year salary on shoes and bottle service. These guys make bad decisions.
He's rolling in the greenbacks now. Kelce is likely going to be worth several hundred million in the next few years.

Luc Mbah a Moute is a good example. Made about $30M and has been very active investing.
What does this mean though? Investing in shitty restaurant chains? With $30 million you can put it in a mutual fund and your grandkids will be set for life if you are smart about it.

Same for boxers who make it big. Look at Evander Holyfield who's career earnings top $230 million over his 26 yr. career. He fathered 11 kids by 6 different women, bought a 44K+ sq. ft. palace in Atlanta on 200+ acres, had multiple cars, expensive jewelry and a lifestyle he could in no way sustain with the amount of money he had to pay every month.
These guys live like there is no tomorrow and their careers will last forever with big purses falling in their laps.
The list of boxers who made HUGE money in their careers who go broke long before they die is staggering.

I brought her up because she’s the dumbest nationally known figure I could think of.
Off the top of my head:
Joy Behar

What does this mean though?
But many athletes are being put into super "boring", cash flowing RE - strip malls, NNN leases, apartments, etc. They are also putting it into stocks and bonds.
My point is, the days of just spending it all on jewelry in year 1 are gone. That's a trope that just isn't accurate anymore.

I will never understand how these super rich athletes squander it all.
Bad financial advice, lots of hangers on they're paying for, buying stupid shite. The league does a better job now of educating them, but at the end of the day if you're going to piss away your money nobody can stop you.

It’s crazy to think someone could make $100 Million and be over $10 Million in debt to where he’s about to have all sorts of stuff taken from him.
The majority of professional athletes are stupid and believe their money will never run out, because they feel they are more valuable than they are.
Average American can probably live just fine off $100k a year and be fine with everything in life.
