I know you know the Good Word doesn’t spread when you’re 5-5 losing in round 1

There’s teams that want to be good, and then there’s teams that have being good as the school’s business model.

Now what I’m wondering is if Evangel planned to have a terrible season to have a redemption arc for their documentary

I think the reality is they lost all the people that kept it going. It's no surprise that the downfall of ECA occured at the same time as the upswing of Calvary Baptist.

I started watching yesterday. Like you said the production is less than desirable and somewhat cheesy. I ended up fast forwarding through each episode and just watched them during the Friday night game.

The Bootys can get fricked though (pun intended)

Why exactly? Josh had some great moments in a rebuilding Tiger program.

Abram transferred but iirc it was for PT as he was behind some talented receivers here.

I don’t recall any or much as blood with them.

I remember going there for a playoff game in 02’ when Rummel played them.

Rummel caught Evangel sleeping from the jump with a deep bomb to LSU commit Nick Child, which was dropped, and then proceeded to get blown out in sub freezing temperatures.

He’s probably pissed about the or original commitment and then backing out to go play baseball. Or a couple of the boneheaded decisions like trying of run it in against Bama

Didn't they cheat back in the 90's by recruiting players and giving their parents jobs ?

They jumped from 2A to 5A and kicked everyone's arse for a few years

I tried watching it but quit after three episodes. I love these kind of sports documentaries that at least give you a sense that you’re getting a behind the scenes look at a program. This documentary seemed way too scripted

The run with Booty started in 1A in the early/mid 90's. "Supposedly" they would get just enough transfers from Texas when the transfers season ended. A lineman or two plus a LB - wearing the same jersey # as the original starter- and your state champ instead of quarterfinalist. The lhsaa was kind of wild back then

Had he caught that, we would've won. I’m still convinced of that. It was absolutely freezing too. We brought like 10K people, and they had like 100

1992-1998 they most certainly were. Play in class wasn’t until 2004

Genius know the history of the rule.

I don’t think you are, but perhaps you’re right. But you’re just underscoring that Curtis has been scared bitch c unts for 20 seasons now.

I am most certainly right…. Talk of jc going to 5A football only along a some schools being tired of ECA gave us “play in class and later gave us the split

In 1992 ECA was 1a enrollment and jc was 2a enrollment playing 4a ECA was playing 1a nothing prevented either from playing as far up as they wanted to.

Play in class ended in 2013 allowing teams to play up 1 class in 2013 - all the way up in 2014

1984 through 2004 no restrictions

I don’t care enough to read a single word you just typed, buy every one of Curtis’s championships are as hollow as the Lakers’ 2020 bubble championship and are worth about as much as the in-season one they just claimed. John Curtis, the man, his son, his grandson, the school, and everybody ever affiliated with it are a bunch of motherfricking chicken-shite c unts. I hope I made that clear.

I remember after this Evangel was forced by LHSAA to play back down to the class that their enrollment matched which I think was 1A. When this was announced at West Monroe, the rumor was, the entire school stood up in class and started cheering.

I lived in S’port in the early 2000’s. One of my good friend’s son was recruited and brought into Evangel his junior year. He went on to play SunBelt college ball. But Evangel could basically bring any all district player from the metro that they wanted to.

I always thought it was such an ugly school. Just a bunch of portable buildings and a nice looking football field/stadium.
