wut

Kobe is a borderline sociopath who de-railed his team for years b/c he wouldn't accept his proper role behind a superior player

Yea it's true.

However, the "will" to win thing is a real thing. LeBron has it more than people give him credit for, but he has learned it as opposed to it being a part of his DNA. He would lay eggs 7-10 years ago and look like he didn't worry about it.

MJ and Kobe would have been ripping teammates apart for the way they are playing defense and missing wide open shots consistently. LeBron doesn't really do that in public ever.

This just made me dumber

LeBron is objectively better than Kobe.

It takes a real Kobe-stan to argue that he's better than LeBron.

Kobe, is borderline top 10 all time. LeBron is a lock for top 5, even if he doesn't play another game.

Lebron needs to get better on D to be in this discussion. In the waning minutes of close playoff games he sometimes doesnt even make it past halfcourt. As he gets older, I doubt this will improve much

That's for all the fools that say LeBron doesn't have the fluidly-defined "killer instinct" of Kobe.

This is a Kobe vs. LeBron thread, no?

He’s basically saying their competitiveness made everyone on the floor play at an 11/10. You’re either going to fight for them or man up and fight them. That created a heightened level of play on both ends of the floor. I think it’s easy to see why a player would see that as a leg up over someone as talented as Lebron.

I don’t know where it fits in the GOAT discussion, if it does at all.

the problem with this argument, with Kobe specifically, is how he tanked those lakers teams pre-Phil by trying this with a superior player in Shaq. only when Kobe deferred to the alpha did they realize their potential in that era

You're either flat out lying or misremembering. Kobe became a full time starter in 98-99. The Lakers won the first of three in a row in 99-00. He didn't tank anything pre that. He just wasn't fully developed as a player yet.

But ripping teammates in public is not the definition of "will to win" or having it in your DNA, so I don't really get your point.

i've argued with many (online and irl) and a good chunk legit remove the discussions from reality. i got into it one time at a poker table with this dude who swore kobe was a better 3 point shooter than lebron. when i googled the stats (lebron is solidly ahead in 3p%) he STILL refused to concede

I know you posted this before, and I've posted my same reply before, but I'll do it again lol.

There was once a guy who swore Lebron was a choker in the clutch from the free throw line. During the season he said that, I showed the numbers that Lebron's free throw shooting % actually went up by a decent margin in the clutch, and same thing, his reply was that he knew what his eyes saw!!!!

The issue with “clutch” is that it can be defined in whatever way someone wants it to be to put their guy in a favourable or unfavourable light.

Is it the last 5 minutes, last two minutes, last thirty seconds? Well it depends on whose side you are on.
