We were all robbed of a Kobe/Lebron finals and it wasn’t because Kobe never showed up.

There is no way Kobe is top 2 all time. There are a couple of players you can put there, but Kobe ain’t one of them.

Even if this is true, what does a player in his prime beating a player yet to reach his prime in a meaningless one in one game have to do with their historical rankings 5 on 5 team sport with thousands of meaningful games?

Either you're just terrible at supporting an argument or you no longer have the relevant evidence to support your argument so you have to resort to desperation.

If you look at stats alone, Russell Westbrook is the greatest player of all time.

Even if you just look at players who played a significant portion of their careers on the Lakers (i.e., player like Malone don't count), Kobe isn't even in the top 3 (Kareem, Magic, Shaq), and there is a case to make for a number of other players ahead of him (Wilt, West, etc.).

I think the real point is that Kobe has always been a ‘players’ player’. There are a lot of Kobe stans out there. You can show them stats that show he wasn’t on lebron’s level and they’ll say “I saw what I saw”. I think most of that stems from Kobe’s jordan-esque mentality and a lack of respect for Lebron because he is viewed as being beta.

Not even close. Plenty of players have far better stats than Westbrook both in the regular season and the playoffs.

Yes. Not only did he mold his game off of Jordan, he molded his entire public persona off of him. Basically he gets credit for attempting to be like Mike.

Which is funny, because in the court he's much more of an alpha than Kobe; he just doesn't roar as loud.

He was also the highest profile player in the league by a significant margin at a certain point in time, which distorts the image he has with some people.

Now the time when Kobe was so famous was one of the lowest points for NBA talent in recent memory, but people conveniently want to forget that.

If you are the face of the NBA for a period of time, you are going to gather a lot of fans.

That's for all the fools that say LeBron doesn't have the fluidly-defined "killer instinct" of Kobe.

My killer instinct comment was a joke

One on one plays to Kobe's advantage because passing the ball is impossible.

I'm half joking, but Kobe never averaged more than 6 apg and LeBron never averaged less than 6 apg.

I think LeBron is decidedly better as an actual player and wouldn't be shocked if Kobe beat LeBron 1 on 1 in 2008. That's the sort of pure scoring test prime Kobe excelled in. Heck, half of Kobe's NBA games were basically 1 on 1. He had a 38.7 usage % in 2005-06, which is hilarious.

kobe won 5 rings, and was only the best player on those teams twice.

kobe played 20years in the nba.. and was only the best player once during that time.

The dude averages a triple-double two years in a row. Statistically, that's never been done before.

Therefore, just looking at stats alone and not actually watching the game and making a decision on your own, saying, "Okay, player x is better than player y, even though player y has better stats..."
