Does anyone think it’s racist for the Celtics to hire Stevens as gm

The melt was glorious by Stephen a smith this morning whining about the hire of brad Stevens. They are a private company they can hire who ever they want. Everything doesn’t have to have a racial component to it.

These clowns have gone so far off the deep end with that shite they can’t talk about any subject without injecting race into it somewhere. I went from watching ESPN almost all day long to not at all for almost a full year because I got sick of listening to that nonsense.

No I don't. But speaking of black GMs makes me remember a bit that Patrice O'Neal did on Opie and Anthony back in the day when he was bitching about the NBA 2k games and how they wouldn't let him make the trades he wanted because of salary cap reasons, and then Anthony said something to the effect of "well now we know why there are no black GMs in the NBA" and then everyone including Patrice started laughing their asses off

If a discussion went on like that on one of these talks shows today it would get shut down immediately probably.

I couldn't care less if it is or isn't racist, my mind doesn't automatically go in that direction.

I do think it's a good hire and I think he'll do well in that role.

Hmmm no.I think they hired Stevens because they like Stevens.

But I get Why a white guy hiring a white guy to replace a white guy makes black guys feel like they don’t really have the same opportunities.

I also Think hiring Stevens is a weird fricking move, and Stevens taking the job is a weird move.

It’s because people in 2021 are so fake and lame that they have to pretend to be part of some “greater good” crusade just to create meanings in their lives.

In a lot of cases they don’t, but this is a terrible situation to try to make that point. It’s Stephen A just trying to get his name trending.

What black guys in the league are even qualified to be an NBA GM?

I think it’s a weird move because I thought Stevens would be one of those guys who would Coach forever, obviously I don’t know him personally at all he just seemed like the type. Usually coaches move up into jobs like this when their coaching careers are winding down, he’s like just now peaking and he’s pretty young.

what do you mean qualified?

A guy like Steve kerr was a TV guy then took a GM job.

Pelinika / bob Myers were agents.

James Jones, went from being a player to GM.

Any number of guys could be qualified based off of what we have seen.

You’re naming the exceptions.

Plus, Pelinka is a lawyer and was an NBA agent. He’s clearly smart and has relevant experience.

James Jones has a finance degree and was an honors student in college. A little odd that he got a GM job right after his playing career, but it also blows up your point since he’s black.

And Steve Kerr was part owner of the Suns when he became the GM. He was already working in their front office on the ownership side.

Most GMs work their way up through organizations. They are educated, smart and savvy and get jobs because they are successful in the front office.

Plus, it’s not even true that black people don’t get GM opportunities. 9 of the 30 teams have a black GM. That’s nearly a third of the league. For some reason black people think they’re half of the population and deserve at least half of all jobs. Black people only make up 13% of the population. And I understand that there is a higher percentage of basketball players who are black, but most players are not capable of running an NBA franchise. And executive jobs are way more diverse than just basketball players. So there are way more people who aren’t Black who are fighting for those jobs.

Stephen A's job is to literally melt nonstop. I don't even take it serious anymore. There's a reason his nickname is Screaming A.
