LSU coach Lane Kiffin will be suspended multiple games, and the university will be hit with a massive fine. They'll also be told - in a legal and unambiguous way - that one more instance of flouting league rules will result in their expulsion from the SEC.

From Kiffin, to athletic director Verge Ausberry, to president Wade Rousse, everyone is going to pay for what the SEC considers a “lack of institutional control.”

“There will be no doubt about what will happen if this continues,” an SEC source told USA TODAY Sports.

Make no mistake, now is not the time for LSU or its acolytes — this means you, Gov. — to plead innocence or demand justice. Take your medicine, and walk away.

FSU hasn't left because no one wants them

But yes there is a significant penalty. Same thing that kept UT and OU in the big 12 for two years even after their SEC announcement was made

Seems a bit journalistically dubious to frame your article in a way that sounds like reporting rather than opinion

The SEC has chosen to go to war with the entire state of Louisiana over this.

They’ve completely lost the plot.

It seems they may have over played their hand, but we also don’t know everything that has been going on behind the scenes for it to get to this point.

I’m guessing that the SEC made their rules and expected all teams to fall in line with those rules. Once LSU went rogue, the SEC has been trying to get them to fall back in line. Power struggle at this point that has escalated further than it ever should have.

Yep. Per Sankey:

Being on an NFL training camp roster trying to make the team and getting cut = PRO

Being on a European club for several years, getting paid to play for their basketball team = Shucks, I dunno. Let 'em play in the NCAA.

Already done.

Texas has a player whose name was in the draft currently ON THEIR ROSTER.

He went undrafted, so, they see it as “different”.
