There are two things going on here
The SEC has a federal injuction hearing tomorrow. Ultimately that is being done so they can supersede the injuction the players got on Friday. At its heart its the SEC trying to create some kind of ruling that trumps what these other schools are doing with their TROs so they can enforce their rules how they seem fit going forward
Then, its the vote on LSU. Thats where I just find this to be so dumb. LSU and the SEC are both better off together and the whole reasoning is dubious at best. LSU hasn't rostered the players and thats the whole point. Its stupid to try to bring some vote up that won't succeed so that they can punish them for something they may want to do but haven't done yet

Anyone else find it interesting that the various school leadership are calling themselves CEO’s, while they remain staunchly opposed to making players employees?

That’s the thing that gets me the most about all this.
We have had all these absurd TROs and rulings. Of all of them at least to me this particular one actually makes the most sense. Yet the SEC is pissed off about it and choosing this hill to die on for some reason.

The only entity that would lose money in the long term if this actually happens* is LSU. 3-4 years from now the SEC would barely notice they're gone. They'll replace them with another big name football program and keep humming along. A separation would be a death blow to LSU athletics.

This conference has repeatedly respected court injunctions after guys were declared ineligible. Why would LSU feel the need to "stop him" from doing something that has been accepted in the past? You say they're ineligible, the court says differently, there's some hem hawing, and we all move on.
His whole article is filled with pot shots at Lane.....you don't sound unbiased at all.
I've also just grown tired of university presidents that continually want to keep up the charade amateur athletes and academics in general, for football and basketball that shite went out the window long ago. So, let's stop the hand wringing and pretending to care about that.

He had maybe the dumbest argument I’ve heard about this and said that the SEC should argue it’s a safety issue since these players had top of the line NFL facilities to train in

SEC facilities non withstanding....wouldnt they lose access since they didn't even make the practice squad? Like the NFL teams would just let them stick around or something?

Isn’t there some MASSIVE penalty for voluntarily leaving the ACC?
I thought that’s why FSU never left.
