National Titles
Louisville 3
Indiana 5

Final Fours
Louisville 10
Indiana 8

NCAA Tournament Appearances
Louisville 43
Indiana 40

Louisville has been a lot more relevant than IU the last couple decades. One more title and we pass them

Imagine listing your blue bloods and leaving the greatest program in cbb history off not to mention Indiana which synonymous with the sport.

So who'd you leave off your Mt Rushmore; Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, or Roosevelt?

None of the Big Ten schools are Blue Bloods because they all take turns. Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin seem like they are always threats to reach the Final Four. Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota have occasional nice runs. I've always viewed the Big Ten (including Indiana) as the really good conference. Not legendary, but not to be taken lightly.

Plus, some of the legends of the Big Ten come from the regional days. Jerry Lucas of Middletown led Ohio State to a championship. The Fab Five were pretty much from Michigan and Chicago. Isiah from Chicago lead a bunch of Hoosiers and Midwesterners to a title. Nowadays, Detroit and Chicago just aren't the meccas they used to be. High school basketball is changing too much to maintain this regional personality. Good kids from the Midwest are often leaving the region for prep schools as Juniors and Seniors...creating more of a national AAU type of landscape.

If you're referring to UCLA, I don't know. I think they had a great decade but outside of that they have one national championship in the last 46 years.

Indiana absolutely is not a blue blood.

Yes they have 5 titles, but blue bloods don't have a 63% win %

They also haven’t done anything in 20 years. And even then they were fading save for getting hot in the tourney that one yr.

Blue bloods are North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky and UCLA.

Next tier is Connecticut, Louisville, Michigan State, Villanova and Syracuse. Maybe Georgetown (historically) and Gonzaga (recently).

Now that being said, UCLA and Indiana are strictly in on history. They could fall out of blue blood status IMO if they don’t make more noise soon.

Current Bluebloods are Kentucky, UNC, Duke, Kansas

Past bluebloods from history would include UCLA and Indiana.

2nd tier would be MSU and Louisville

In agreement with this.

Sorry, your team isn’t a blue blood. Probably because they are in the same state as, and overshadowed by, Kentucky. Just the way it is.

Being a blueblood is less about right now, and more about history.

UCLA was dominant in the way Alabama football has been excpt even moreso. From 1964 to 1975 UCLA won all but 2 National Championships.

Here are your multi title winners. I'd say there are 5 blue bloods.

UCLA — 11
Kentucky — 8
North Carolina — 6
Duke — 5
Indiana — 5
UConn — 4
Kansas — 3
Villanova — 3
Cincinnati — 2
Florida — 2
Louisville — 2
Michigan State — 2
NC State — 2
Oklahoma State — 2
San Francisco — 2

UCLA basketball is like ND football.

I was going to make this exact comparison.

UCLA’s heyday was unreal and although they haven’t dominated in decades they haven’t fallen off the map either like a Nebraska (football) that’s going to lose its blue blood status (if it hasn’t already) for sucking for too long. Hell, I think Nebraska’s last 20 years would have been better if they had kept running Osborne’s offense with Solich and then some other former assistant or player when he retired. Ironically, that’s exactly what they have right now, just with a different offense.

Syracuse has never been a blue blood program. While Duke, UNC, Kentucky, and Kansas get their pick of the best 4 and 5 star players, it's never been that way for Syracuse. Watch, when Boeheim retires, Syracuse falls off the map. It's always been Jim that made that program what it is.

If Izzo had landed a second NC I would say Michigan State would be top tier, but as it currently stands they are just a step behind the UCLA/UK/UNC/Duke level IMO.

Watching Duke will be very interesting post K btw, not at all sold that they just continue on at their current level. Could be a tough transition with the constant “that’s not how K did it” stuff behind the scenes and the replacement has no proven track record at all.
