500lb bench isn’t kinda hard to believe with someone with such long arms.
EDIT*****

Yeah, I don't think the downvoters here understand this or how much 500 lbs is to bench press.
Yeah my brother did it competitively, he is 4’ 11”. That’s a HUGE advantage, he can lock out the weight like a foot from his body. I’m 6’ with orangutan arms when I lock out I’m like 3 feet from my body.

All except the 500 lb bench. Didn’t they make the rule you couldn’t cross the free throw line as a shooter until after the ball hit the rim during free throws because he could broad jump dunk from the free throw line?

He had a 6'6.75 high jump as a junior at Kansas in a recorded meet. I believe that and the long jump one just because you can be a champion at a lot of small meets.
The rest are BS.

Why is your brother 4' 11" and you're 6'? Your mom needs to explain what was going on at the Super 8 a few decades ago.

Had a 48 inch vertical - no
Ran a 4.5 40 - no
Benched 500 lbs - no
Had a 6'6 high jump - absolutely
Was a long jump champ - absolutely
Slept with 20K women (0 kids and STDs) seems unrealistic considering he played professional basketball and assumably slept.

Had a 48 inch vertical
Id believe it if it said 38 in
Ran a 4.5 40
Nope, maybe a 4.7 though.
Benched 500 lbs
Absolutely not. I'd potentially believe 300 maybe. Even that is a stretch
Had a 6'6 high jump
Can't comment, I dont know much about high jumping
Was a long jump champ
Absolutely, he was an NBA player, not only that, one of the best to ever live. It's not a stretch of the imagination at all to say he won a championship in high school.
Slept with 20K women (0 kids and STDs)
Definitely not. He probably did get 2,000, which is still a hell of a lot of women.

Yep. Makes about as much sense as saying he could limbo under a bar set at 30 inches.

Wilt was a great athlete, but the all time NBA combine vert record is 46 inches. His head being at 11'1, that just isn't happening.
I believe the track stuff. OP didn't list it, but one of the other stories was he ran a hand times 100 in under 11 seconds. That stuff sounds like it could be true.
The 500 bench is a joke.

avg best season 50 pts and 26 rebounds.
Posted on 4/16/20 at 4:38 pm to CelticDog
There were reports that he ran the quarter mile in 49 seconds and the 1/2 mile in 1:58 in high school. Not world class times but fast enough to win most meets he entered and probably fast enough to place at states. Not bad for a basketball player.

Not sure of those #s, but Wilt the Stilt was an incredible athlete.
Scoring 100 points in an NBA game is a record that may never be matched. He also played briefly with the Harlem Globetrotters.
His biggest weakness, like many centers even today, was free throw shooting. As I recall, he shot free throws under handed or "granny style."

Speaking of Wilt and track, this photo is actually real, despite how much it seems photoshopped.

Most overrated player in sports history. Not just the NBA. Sports.

As a resident shorter guy, the argument about bench pressing more weight is definitely true. I was about 5'5" as a soph in high school, and was a receiver. I worked out with the linemen in my grade since we were both around a 230-240 max. And I weighed about a buck 60. There was a guy a few inches shorter than me that could lift mid 200s as a 15 year old, and max closer to 275-285. He had this stocky little body and short arms and could throw the weight around. It always bothered one of my good friends that I could outsquat and outbench him, but he was 8 inches taller and lanky.

Big 8 high jump champ three years in a row. Also a 56-foot shot putter.

I don't believe any old hand-timed 40's. Especially H.S. or College ones.
And no one knows his vertical.
He claimed anywhere from 46-48 inches.
He also claimed he slept with all those women and his teammates say they rarely saw him with women.

Wilt’s one of those mythical athletes who possessed magnificent attributes that would’ve enabled him to dominate whatever sport he tried but didn’t have winner’s intangibles to win a bunch of titles commensurate with his abilities. He’s an all-time great by any objective measure but not the GOAT.
Posted on 4/16/20 at 6:07 pm to PhillyFan1994
The 20k women thing appears incredibly far-fetched and I think it’s been since debunked just the media didn’t make a big deal about it compared to their reaction to his claim and therefore people continue to peddle the myth
