I thought they could move before the Vegas and Seattle expansions were announced. Now I don’t think there are any open markets outside maybe Nashville.

Will the Wizards move in the next 10 years?

Assuming Vegas and Seattle get expansion teams, where would they go? St. Louis? Nashville? Kansas City? Another California/Texas/Florida team?

Correct, Pelicans likely missed their window to relocate. Still holding out hope that one day new owners and GM for both Pelicans and Saints will have them back from the grave.

Mexico City

What's happening in Mexico right now is not good for any future potential relocation there.

no... they'll be sold, but they'll remain here... the potential owners of this franchise have no desire to move them

I didn't understand the team moving to New Orleans to begin with. I get there is nothing in the Gulf South from Houston to Atlanta but the market didn't seem there at all.

Similarly I didn't get the Grizz choosing Memphis. Felt like catching a falling knife. Versus a more "hip" destination with future growth runway.

I figure you run out of options as an owner and try to fill a geographic gap and pray.

Gayle will eventually sell it to a new owner/group that wants to keep it here. She is on record saying so

You're going to see a deal for a extremely substantial reno of the SKC that will tie them in a lease that would be extremely difficult to get out of.

So no they will be here a long time.

They are a pathetic franchise though

yup, unless Gayle dies in then next couple of years unexpectedly this is what's going to happen. She wants both the Saints and Pelicans to stay in NO long term.

Miles ahead? They draw roughly the same attendance with the edge going to OKC because they actually have a good team. If New Orleans had a team worth supporting, they would outdraw OKC easily.

Like it did after Katrina… the Hornets played a lot better with full crowds in OKC

They only played 9 games in NOLA over a 2 year span, but all of those games at the NO Arena were pretty full. They went 4-5 in those games and were under 500 both seasons overall.

Then the first year back full time in NOLA, they had the best season in franchise history
