It's probably still a longshot to actually get it. But if Henry stays manages to actually hit 2k for a second time in his career, that officially solidifies him as a 1st ballot HOF guy. Pretty funny, just before this season his HOF likelihood came up and many had him as a very fringe pick. Things change quickly.

No, I'm thinking that a couple of 1,200 yards seasons would seal the deal.

The only question about DH going into the HOF is will it be at RB or LB??

Like I said he if continues on this pace or slightly drops off (1800 yards) and has around 1K yards and 10 TDs combined over the next two years he's in the top 15 all time rushing. A couple of 1200 yard seasons would put in top 8 or so. He doesn't need to get that high up in the rankings to be amongst all HOFers.

"Seal the deal" i.e., remove all doubt.

Him being top 15 all time in yards and top 5 in TDs along with 3 rushing titles would be enough to “seal the deal”. Because all the other guys in those lists are HOF caliber players.

Every single RB top 15 in rushing yards is in except for AP and Gore who will get in. Every single RB top 5 in rushing TDs is in except for AP. Henry can easily find him self in both categories.

Every single RB with 3 or more rushing titles is HOF caliber.

Point is Henry isn’t far from being a HOF lock

If you actually read what I'm saying, you'll realize we aren't that far apart.

Good job Jerry! Henry wasn't needed! We got the husk of Zeke's corpse instead!

OJ breaking 2k in only 14 games is still the best season imo. He really killed it that year.

143.1 yards per game!

Or Jim Brown in 1958. Only 12 games.

Jim's 1963 season could be the greatest by an RB ever. 6.4 ypc

When Derrick Henry won the Heisman, I kind of felt like McCaffrey deserved it over him, and that he was just benefitting from the Bama O-line. Boy, was I wrong.

He should be an automatic first ballot hall of famer even if he retires after this season.

He is averaging 4.8 yds a carry for his career. Of the top 50 leading rushers of all-time, only two have a better YPC average. They are Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. He is averaging 6.5 YPC this year.

Of all active players, the only player close in yardage is Ezekiel Elliot and he is over 1200 yards behind. The next active player is Joe Mixon who is 3600 yards behind. Both Mixon and Elliott came into the league within a year of Henry. He needs 2400 yards to move into top 10 all-time. He came into the league in 2016 and is the only player in the top 50 all-time who came into the league after 2010.

How many years did Pride argue Henry wasn’t him?

That just blows my mind. Henry might be the last of his kind.

His worst game I believe was against the 5-9 Saints.

He very well could be. Of course part of his resurgence this year is due to the NFL's overall trend of running the ball more, but even if that were to become a long term thing, they are still trending towards RB's being expendable as opposed to workhouses.

Another interesting NFL tidbit from this year, 3 of the top 4 RB's by rushing attempts are Alabama guys while 3 of the top 5 WR's by yards are LSU guys. No one from any other school is even close in the two categories.

He was a HOFer before the season started

And McCaffery along with Kamara might be the only two other RB's of this generation to make the HOF, and if it happens, their receiving yards will be the difference. Barkley might make it, but he has a long way to go. With few exceptions, 11K yards has been the cut-off to make the Hall and he is only halfway there.

It is weird to say, but since the draft class of 2010, the only RB that is a solid lock for the HOF is Derrick Henry. Frank Gore will be inducted when he comes up but he was class of 2005.
