Do Aikman and Namath’s stats really scream “elite all time at the position”? Absolutely not. Are you going to skip them if you are telling the story of the game in it’s entirety? Absolutely not.

Some of y’all get way too bogged down in the stats and miss the narrative and celebration of the game.

There’s WAY too much emphasis on winning Super Bowls to get inducted. Case in point: Swan, Namath, Aikman, and possibly Manning.

Aikman and Namath at least had 1 or 2 years where you could argue they were top 5 QBs.

Eli has none

I was not a fan of the mass wave to get older players in this year. I kinda like the way MLB does their hall with 75% of the vote which limits it to 2 or 3 players per year, but people put waaaay too much emphasis on the unanimous bit now.

Eli is a 2x SB MVP though. Only 4 others have done that.

Carmelo Anthony feels like his Jersey should be retired in the Garden....he literally did nothing for that franchise.

he was only the best Knick of the millennium so far

Who’s second? Jeremy Lin?

But yeah about the thread, maybe for every year they vote in x number of players, every year they should remove one questionable one who’s already dead

100 years of professional football on this country, so you’re looking at least 50,000 men who have taken a snap in an NFL game.

That means .652% of players in NFL history are in the HoF. That’s being on the generous side of things. It’s more than likely less than .5%.

Would I personally vote for Eli to be in the Hall? No. Would I throw a hissy fit and act like it’s some miscarriage of justice because a bronze bust of a guy is sitting in a building in Canton while that guy gets a new jacket? Hell no.

Some of y’all need some perspective in your lives.

Nothing is worse than the guy who gets on a message board and takes time out of his day to claim that others have too much time on their hands because they have an opinion.

Nothing.

Respect to Deion—
If you don’t take care of it it will lose its place of importance.

Just look at the rock and roll hall of fame. Nothing but a joke.

That’s still an award for a single game. His defense deserves way more credit for that first SB win.

That’s not what he’s saying at all. He’s saying that there’s not that many people in the hall and he’s right.

I agree with your post, but the problem is the NFL doesn’t stick to its mission statement which opens the door to criticism.

“Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!”

If this is true, why did it take Terrell Owens so long to get in? Why isn’t Pat Tillman in HOF? Steve Gleason? These are the stories that make up the history of NFL.

Although Sanders didn’t want to name any specific players who he thinks have watered down the Hall of Fame, when Patrick asked him about Eli Manning, Sanders answered, “You get the point.”

I wonder if Deion has a problem with Warren Moon being in the HOF?

They're both .500 QBs except Eli has a significantly better TD-to-Int ratio and 2 Super Bowl rings.

No because Warren Moon was throwing up stats that only Marino and Fouts have done previously during a time when defenses such as the Giant, Philly, and Saints were ruling the day.

It’s called the Hall of Fame. Not the Hall of MVPs. If a guy can stand out in the crowd(by winning superbowls or whatever it may be) and/or make a name for himself regardless of stats, then he should be considered.

Being “the best Knick” is like being the nicest house in the ghetto.

The Knicks don’t owe shite to lazy-arse Carmelo and should ask for a refund.

Warren Moon was throwing up garbage stats in the early days of run and shoot.

Stiffs like Scott Mitchell and Jeff George threw for 4000 yeards in that offense.
