re: Deion Sanders: They’re letting too many players into the Hall of Fame

Hall of Fames exist to tell the story of the game in which they encompass. That includes all of the greats and their accomplishments.
Do Aikman and Namath’s stats really scream “elite all time at the position”? Absolutely not. Are you going to skip them if you are telling the story of the game in it’s entirety? Absolutely not.
Some of y’all get way too bogged down in the stats and miss the narrative and celebration of the game.
I have never been to Canton, but in Cooperstown, the museum displays tell the story of the game, and the enshrinement wing is reserved for the individual bests of the best.
You don't need to be enshrined to be included in the telling of the story of the game. For example, the 1961 home run chase is part of the museum, including Maris' bat and HR ball #61, but Maris himself is not enshrined.

NFL Network puts too many analysts on TV. Deion is the worst.

“It should be based on, ‘Are you that guy?’ Not just because we have to meet a quota,” Sanders said.
Welcome to the rest of the world and what we have to deal with, Deion.

Eli was never a top 5 qb, not even a single year in his career. At least Kurt was elite for a few years and arguably the best for a few too.
No, he was not, but he beat the GOAT not once, but twice in the Super Bowl, ending their perfect season in one of them.
I understand Deions point but if you let in some of the others you have to let in Eli.

The Hall of Fame is now set up to where there are benchmarks/thresholds that if any player reaches they are now “HOF worthy” because X other player had same/worse stats. More and more players are now reaching these thresholds and it’s going to make it awkward
Quarterbacks. The passing stats put up the past 10 year mean nothing when trying to compare what guys did in the 80s when you could still hit a QB and pass interference wasn’t called if you looked at a receiver the wrong way.
Everyone puts up 4,000 yard seasons with over 60% completion percentage now. QB rating over 90 is the norm, or you should be benched.

Eli Smith would never have gotten in.

His team beat them. Especially for 2007. Just look at his performance in that 2007 season.

Everyone with a brain knows Eli DOESN’T DESERVE to get inducted into the Pro Football HOF if we use any objectivity: wildly inconsistent, turnover-prone, doesn’t do much outside of two monumentally crazy playoff runs that’s due as much to the defense as it is to Eli Super Bowl heroics. He’ll get in bc it’s the Giants and the fact the only 2 games he didn’t suck in throughout his career were those Super Bowl games, it’s stupid rationale since football’s a body of work game but just the reality of it.

Terrell Owens is in. Does it really matter if you get in year one of eligibility? You’re either indicted or you’re not.
As for Pat Tillman and Gleason, I haven’t been to Hall so there may be some mention of them, but there is nothing about their overall career that makes them worthy of induction. Tillman is known for what happened to him away from football and Gleason is known for one play (which honestly is more of one fanbase memory thing but I’m not having that discussion) and then the unfortunate medical issues he is battling.
So yeah make mention of them somewhere in the hall, but you can absolutely tell the story of the game without mentioning their careers.

Any Quarterback that wins multiple Superbowls deserves to be in the Hall of Fame...regardless of how their other seasons went. I can't think of a QB that has 2 or more Superbowl wins that is not in the HOF.
Eli lead one of the most miraculous Superbowl runs in NFL history. The Giants came in as a wilcard team and beat the undefeated juggernaut New England Patriots. That story deserves to be told.

Deion can do one of two things. He can keep yelling at the clouds or he could shut the f**k. Most would prefer the latter.

while I agree with most about Eli, tell neon deon to have a coke and a smile and STFU, nobody gives a shite about your opinion cuz your vote counts no more than anyone else...

Jim Plunkett. He was also never even selected to a single Pro Bowl, but was MVP of Super Bowl 15.

I actually consider Plunkett a superior QB than Eli, dude BALLED OUT with the Raiders, great second career considering his tenure with Pats/49ers was a complete bust
