I would sign EE now. Go for a juggernaut offense.

Well now that the White Sox are clearly rebuilding what about Quintana?

Quintana is a true No. 2 who is consistent. I assume they will want Martes and Tucker plus filler for him.

Maybe we go for Eaton as well. Throw Teo and Reed in there. Let's get nuts!

To me archer isn't near the level of sale, so the package should reflect that.

One of the most underrated pitchers out there... would be a steal if he can be had at a bargain price.

I'd go for a SP. Need to get another arm I'm fine with our bats.

As a player, that's correct. But he has 5 years of team control opposed to 3 at a much lower AAV than Sale. So as a trade chip, he's almost as valuable if not equally so.

The fact that I think most of us would take that in a heartbeat makes me think the Rays would never agree to it

sucks how that works

I still want Edwin. Him and those Crawford boxes would be a match made in heaven.
This would be nice.

I wonder if this continues to drag out for him if the amount of years demanded in the deal would shorten.

If they can't find a deal for Archer that's only prospects and is reasonable then they should just go full offense and sign E5

I think that most of us agree on this. And players win championships, not friendly contracts. Thus, please move on from Archer.

David Price is a 5.54 career pitcher in the playoffs.
Bucholz is also near a 5 ERA (4.78) in the playoffs.

Don't be intimidated by names on a paper.

Buchholz just isn't that good

The Sale/Price combo at the top is pretty nasty though and Porcello seemed like he turned a corner last year

I'm not arguing that that 1-2 isn't very good adding Sale. But to say Price isn't that great a pitcher in the playoffs is very fair.

I've always thought it's kind of dumb, you're basing that on 9 starts made over the course of 7 different seasons. Price is a very good pitcher, there isn't something that magically happens that makes him bad in the playoffs.

If Sale struggles in his first 9 starts next year people won't write him off, at least not intelligent people.

Sale, Price, Porcello, Wright, Pomeranz. That's ridiculous and not to mention Rodriguez or Bucholz. They are scary loaded

time to open the check book and sign EE. Add him to the lineup and then go after a SP.

Fight fire with fire.

ETA: just saw the details of what the Red Sox now have invested in Sale (his outstanding money plus what they paid for Moncada $63Million?? plus 3 other highly rated prospects). What a wonderful fail it would be if the Red Sox don't get to the WS.
