Wondering whether it was the Astros that restarted talks at one point or whether Boras did and leaked it to try to motivate the Red Sox to do something.
Just seems like the whole “well the Astros might have a chance again” was something both the Astros and Bregman used in an effort to keep the fans from being totally pissed at them. Something like “yeah, we would be interested in him coming back”, “yeah, I’d be interested in going back” but neither side really wanting that to happen.

At this point, I think I’d preferred a GM that doesn’t talk the media

It sure seems that way, especially once they got BOTH Paredes and Walker. And as noted in the post below yours re our GM, he isn’t a great communicator and his conflicting statements reflect exactly what you posted.

Imagine saying we have a strong outfield with a straight face…if BOTH Altuve and Yordan were starting out there, the defense would be a massive liability. If either/or were out there, it would be decent at best offensively. But if it is Gamel/Jake/Chas??

I think he's referring to the turf, or maybe the walls

Mr. Brown doesn't speak on my behalf. I'd like the record to reflect that I don't feel like our outfield is strong.

Always was a big Bregman fan since LSU, but I’ve lost a lot of respect for him over this. Not because he left or wanted more $, but because he’s going to play 2B for Boston — a position he’s never played.
I don't agree with this at all. I think he, like all the rest of the 2017 Astros want out because of the scandal. They won't admit it, but I really think that's part of it. I think he's willing to play 2nd because his bat should work so well in Fenway.
Even the MLB radio guys think money wise, he should have taken the Houston deal in the beginning. They were talking about it and comparing the actual money and that he won't get higher money once this 4 year deal is over. Interesting too, that the Tigers and Red Sox both had managers he knows. I truly believe he was selective and just really wanted to play for the Red Sox. I'm still a fan and hope he still owns the Yankees!

For fux sake.
Just trade Framber now, pull in a Tucker-ish haul and move on from this season.
This team will not be a post-season team with the current outfield.

Agreed. Brown tends to run his mouth, get checked by Crane and then come back and contradict his earlier statement. Other than Altuve, how’s that “I told Jim to get his checkbook ready” from when he first got hired working out when when it comes to locking up players to contract extensions?

If tweet fails to load, click here. I'm a little concerned about a void of leadership. It somewhat felt that way after the losses of Springer, then Correa. Now Bregman is gone too. Who's the vocal leader of the team? You'd have to default to Altuve or Yed but neither of them have ever struck me as the rally the troops type. More of a oead by example, handle your business, be a good teammate type.

Peña has that kinda personality but he needs to take the next step on the field cause nobody GAF what a young average player says when trying to rally the troops
Can’t really think about what kinda personality Yainer has. He’ll hopefully be a mainstay on the team for awhile
Lance can be a great cheerleader from the dugout during home games

I know Walker is supposed to be a great clubhouse guy and was a huge leader for Arizona. It’s always tough though coming into a new clubhouse

If tweet fails to load, click here. Yainer and Hunter Brown, not top 100 players.

For the expected production from LMJ, I don’t really care if Brown said we are transitioning him to the OF
McDisabled probably saying anything to oppose management in his full time role reppin players

The scripts for this year's Astros H-E-B commercials have apparently been leaked
We start off seeing a TV playing highlights from the 2017 Astros World Series. The camera pans over to a kitchen table where Jose Altuve sits alone eating H-E-B brand breakfast cereal surrounded by 3 empty chairs each with their own table setting. Just then, Lance McCullers Jr. rolls in on a rascal scooter. Jose seems surprised to see him. "Hey. I picked up your paper for you." McCullers tosses the newspaper to Altuve and grunts in pain. Altuve opens up the paper and looks past the headline, "Houston man loses all his friends" and instead spots an ad and excitedly reads "Oh guau! These new H-E-B breakfast cereals are just six dollars for 3 boxes" as he looks up from the paper and we see Lance McCullers being rolled out of the front door on a gurney.
We start off in a living room as we see Jose Altuve watching highlights of the Astros 2022 World Series team. The doorbell rings and Framber Valdez walks out from a bedroom and opens the front door. A man with a giant cardboard check with Frambers name on it is standing there smiling. Framber walks outside and closes the door behind him. Altuve walks over the refrigerator and pulls out 2 H-E-B Meal Simple meals. He places one in the freezer and the other in the microwave. As the commercial ends, we see Altuve sitting back down in the living room with his dinner, continuing to watch world series highlights. A narrator says "H-E-B Meal Simple. Fresh simple meals that you can heat or freeze as you need them."
