Chaz and Diaz enjoying the sweet smell of freedom (as opposed to that skunk smell from the old manager's office).

JV was throwing off the mound this morning. That’s positive, and I watched the full clip and not just the McTaggart quote and it seems like JV’s context was that he’s feeling fine now but just had some pain when he first picked up a ball in early January or whenever he gets rolling.
quote:
Brian McTaggart @brianmctaggart Ryan Pressly said he’s completely on board with the addition of Hader and said the team got better. “I get paid to go get three outs. It don’t matter if it’s the fourth inning or ninth inning,” he said.

What’s going on with Astros single game tickets on the MLB site? Can’t click to buy tickets, can for other teams home games.

I am thinking JV is going to take a less a-hole take on the Clemons approach for the remainder of his career.

I will support this completely. Especially if JV can perform as well as Clemons did, and especially more if Altuve, Tucker, and Alvarez don't disappear in the post-season.

Love Pressly for this. Wish everyone took this approach.

Jim Crane does not believe in windows. Not when it comes to the Houston Astros’ ability to contend for championships. The Astros owner thinks the idea that sports franchises only have a specific amount of time to take advantage of favorable talent and circumstances is largely a sportswriter invention. One that has little to do with the reality he’s determined to keep going around Houston’s most successful professional sports franchise.
“I’m not worried about the window,” Crane tells PaperCity in a one-on-one interview. “I made a statement the other day that as long as I’m here the window’s open. So I’ve got to live up to that.”

The setup definitely looks simpler with less moving parts and the front foot looks more open than last year.
From the side it looks like he might be have a bit of the scissor motion that Yordan has where the back foot is elevated at contact. If you pause it right after contact it looks a bit like Yordan's. That action really elevated Dubon's game last year hopefully the same for Pena.

I also noticed he's got an open front leg but he hangs his leg and closes off as the pitch is delivered.

Hopefully that's a timing mechanism to help him identify sliders

scissor motion
The idea of trying to hit without the back foot being more stable is beyond my scope of understanding
Seems like if that improved contact and power that it would be seen in the golf swing also
Come to think of it Scottie does seem to "scissor" some, but after contact. Not sure if there are any other examples even remotely close though
ETA= And that's only with his driver, I think
