He would have made a good major league baseball manager when coming to chewing out the ump.
I was in high school when this happened. He was always on the sports highlights.
Seems he once told Jeremy Schaap he was never as good as his dad Dick. Bobby like to get in people's head.

A “leader of men” who threw tantrums and acted like a child.

Bob Knight was a total a-hole, but ESPN had this reality show when he was coaching at Texas Tech, and I think the "plot" was him choosing who would be walk-ons. It was actually kind of good, if I'm remembering correctly. He was obviously a lot older by then and you got to see a lot of footage of him in practices and I think it showed his passion and immense knowledge of the game.

It was called "Knight School" and lasted a season or 2. Knight was a basketball genius, bully and a pretty funny person.

n today’s game it’s rare to see a coach argue a call passionately. The throw their hands up and walk away. Coaches use to get on the officials.
Yeah, the up close contact between the coaches, officials, and AD seems like something you wouldn't see today without penalties or outrage.

Guy was always boiling, even when filming a friendly golf tip.

Good call.
He was torn and hurt when he had to cut players. Showed some humility which really surprised me. Was expecting a total arse.
Can’t doubt his coaching skills. Give him any kind of talent and he will outdo almost anyone.

To be fair, I would probably be Bob Knight-esque as a coach. I wouldn't physically attack anyone, but at the high end college and professional level, you expect competence from officials. For some unknown reason, both college and pro officiating make their officials untouchable and deny bad calls occur, so I can see why coaches get pissed at bad calls. I'm all for praise in public, correct in private, but when the correct in private doesn't occur what are coaches supposed to do?

Knight is the best to ever do it.
He could take his and beat yours and he could take yours and beat his.
