Horrible news.
I hope he didn’t take his own life.

Tragic
Heard on the radio just now that officers attempted a welfare check at his residence last night and were not able to make contact with Kneeland. No other details were discussed

It's crazy that in 2025 there are still people who don't realize that something posted on the internet can be false or even made up for clicks.

What’s the deciding factor between types of welfare checks? One is stopping by, knocking on a door and maybe walking around the property.
The police only enter the residence if there are obvious signs of trouble.
Another type of welfare check involves the police meeting someone with a set of keys at the residence, could be a family member, landlord, or locksmith. Anyone that can grant them access that doesn’t require breaking down a door.

Jones probably spoke to this kid two times in his whole life, who cares about Jones. I'm a Cowboys fan and don't hate Jerry like most do but who cares about Jones catching a break right now.

The official comment on lack of contact during the check and twitter rumors still dovetail
If he got in the accident, and started making crazy comments via call/text to family/teammates, they could send someone to his house to check on him and he wouldn’t be there
Huge grain of salt though as that’s so little info

Horrible. Prayers out to his family, loved ones and teammates.
He scored a touchdown Monday night against the Cardinals on a blocked punt.

Dallas Cowboys player commits suicide after police chase, crash ends in Frisco
On November 5, 2025, at 10:33 P.M., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Blvd.
The driver refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit with DPS Troopers. However, DPS Troopers lost sight of the vehicle, and the pursuit was terminated.
The vehicle was later located abandoned and had been involved in a crash on the southbound lanes of Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway.
DPS Aircraft and Troopers, along with the Frisco Police Department, searched the immediate area and found the driver, a 24-year-old of Plano, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He has since been identified as Marshawn Kneeland, a player for the Dallas Cowboys.
Frisco PD is handling the death investigation.

shite man. I get that you're in trouble from running from the police and your career is in jeopardy, but its a little extreme to put a bullet in your brain over that.

Kind of, wasn't a hit and run he was getting pulled over for traffic stop and ran. Then got in crash while running from the cops and shot himself.
