For those that say they hate it, just curious as to why? Not downing the opinion, just curious. He had a heart breaking loss, but took a few minutes to go congratulate the other team. Didn't seem to go overboard with it. Seems much better than coaches like Izzo who run to the press and say the other team was lucky.

I'm sure he already congratulated the FAU coach and players in the handshake line. FAU is in their locker-celebrating the win. In an age where cameras are EVERYWHERE, it comes off as somewhat self-serving an attention seeking. Though Tang may not have meant it that way, it comes across as trying to grab attention for yourself (even if just briefly) even though you lost.

Seeing that reminds me of the 93-94 year...Arkansas blew out LSU in the last game at Barnhill Arena, a win that clinched the West over LSU. After the game, there was a ceremony to 'close' the arena and ready for the move to BWA. Even with the tough loss, Dale Brown asked if he could come out and say a few words in the ceremony. Gave a quick, sincere, classy speech. Had to be tough to do after the loss, but went over very well.

I like Brown. But he NEVER saw attention he didn't want. I'm sure he was classy in his remarks. But make no mistake, that was every bit as self-serving as it was "selfless".

I get what youre saying and I think some coaches definitely do it with these motives in mind. Everything about tang comes off very genuine though. I dont think he wouldve meant this as a camera op moment.

It seems condescending like you are talking down to them.

First thought.

Like, hey you guys just beat my great team...Which means nobody can beat you...so don't worry that you're a massive underdog...if you believe and are plucky, you can win it all.

Gee thanks.

They're 1pt dogs to make it to the title game and 5/1 to be National Champs.

Im sure the players were floored when a first year head coach of a non-traditional power came in to dap them up

I think the lamest loser trope in sports right now is the guy on the losing team staying out to watch the trophy ceremony of the winning team. SO INSPIRATIONAL

This shite is so stupid. I was in the basketball band for LSU when we lost to NC State in the tournament in 2014-15. The NC State band director came on our bus and praised us on how good we sounded. I wanted to push that old fart down the stairs after that. How far up your own arse do you have to be to do that.

This is a perfect example of being mad at shite for the sake of being mad at shite

Dale Brown was great. Wish he would've had more success at LSU, just not against us.

All these coaches are mercenaries and you can’t believe a word that comes out of their mouth. He did all this to increase his reputation and in this day of the portal it worked as the media has given him a 48 hour window of publicity. If you believe he did it out of sportsmanship and emotion then you are naive.

It was the opposite, the losing coach of the favored team came in to say, you guys are great, I'll be rooting for you, keep it going. Classy move if you ask me.

You are being way too negative about people and too cynical. There are still some classy nice people in this world who do the right thing just because it's the nice and right thing to do.

Eh send a note to their HC after about how impressed he was with their character and he can read it to the team

Don’t insert yourself into their run as though accolades from a real coach of a real program is an honor to bestow. I’m sure the HC didn’t intend that but guaranteed some of the players felt it was like that.

It's really not though.

This would be like the guy losing the job congratulating the other for getting it.

Some of you will get offended by the dumbest shite.

John Bond and other players seemed to appreciate Coach Bryant visiting their locker room after Mississippi State's monumental victory over Alabama in 1980.

Bond will never forget the scene in the State locker room afterwards.
“Everybody was going crazy, yelling and jumping up and down, spraying Cokes on each other,” Bond says. “And then there was a hush that kind of rolled across the locker room and I looked up to see what it was. There was Coach Bryant, a highway patrolman helping him up on a metal chair, and he told us that we deserved to win and don’t let anybody ever tell us differently.”
“The classiest thing I ever saw in all my years of football,” says Tyrone Keys. “Who else would have done that?”

Way too many guys trying to be interweb hardasses in here.

Actually, it’s the exact opposite of that. This would be like you congratulating the person who got the job over you, showing character despite being disappointed
And angry.
