Notice the camera angle they are showing is behind the WR. So, the angle is not straight down the first down marker. They'll overturn it though.

If you reach the ball out but pull it back before you’re down why should you get the forward spot. How is that any different than running backwards?

At what point was his progress stopped? The angle doesn't help. They could wind up out of challenges?

IMO, if you reach out and bring it back to you, you lose advantage of it.

If you reach the ball out and then pull it back, wouldn’t that be considered moving back on your own accord?
