If that’s the case, how come so many NBA players admire Kobe who grew up rich in a very affluent suburb due to his NBA-playing father?

This is quite possibly where the skin color factor comes in. POSSIBLY.

Also, Kobe became a huge name in LA pretty quick, so it was probably difficult for anyone to disrespect him. He also worked his arse off to get where he got.

one time I was playing ball at the REC with a few buddies. We're playing on the middle court where all the blacks play. we're next team up and the victor from the previous game asks us to confirm our team. I say "me, him, him, him, and that lightskin on the baseline" not thinking anything of it.

all the blacks erupted in laughter and started clowning this guy because "bruhhhh, a white guy called you a lightskin." Lightskin could ball and we won so he didn't really care, but I felt pretty bad anyway They wouldn't stop roasting him

The same thing was said about RG III when he was first drafted by Washington. He “spoke white” and “wasn’t black enough.”

Not really. Only Broussard's radio partner called him a cornball brother. The main criticism of RG III was that he was generally corny, which he is, and that had nothing to do with his race or how he talks.

Jordan was born and raised in an era before LBJ destroyed the nuclear black family and he was you know, the greatest basketball player of all time. Still is.

Liberals - “black people cant be racist, bc they aren’t in power and aren’t the majority.”
Also liberals - “I love the NBA bc it’s dominated by black people and they’re the overwhelming majority.”
NBA players - “frick steph curry bc he’s part white”
Liberals - “Hockey is racist!”

That’s just classism. Not racism.

This. Steph is seen as a soft jump shooter born with a silver spoon in his mouth. It's pretty dumb to think he was handed everything since had to go to Davidson, but whatever. He also came out of nowhere and stole a bunch of guys shine. That's the main issue.
Klay is from basically the same background, on the same team, and he's every player's favorite guy in the league. It ain't just a lightskin thing.

Klay is likes by fans. I haven’t ever really heard of klay being well liked by his peers around the league.

“Just to put this out there: My favorite, by far, is Klay. Our short time together in the summers is like … For him to be as dull as he is, there’s never a dull moment.”
That's from Cousins. Have you ever heard of anyone who didn't like Klay?

This basically sums it up. Race has become a crutch to play at will when beneficial. Halle Berry wins Academy Award, media goes apeshit for a “black woman” winning. Steph gets labeled best player in the league, “yeah but he’s not really black”

I don't think it's that. If he was no good no one would have a bad thing to say about him.

They're jealous because he's good. All of that other stuff is just how the mind maps reasons on to what they don't want to admit, which is that he's just better than they are.

The mind is lazy, so it just picks the most obvious thing out about him, which is his skin tone.

I’m still searching for this one. I only heard that they preferred to date light skinned girls.
