What was the “corny” part?

Trying to come up with lame cheesy slogans for ALL of his actions.

So then white dudes can't consider other white dudes corny?

Kind of an interesting topic I've never heard before.

You must be living under a rock. It is no secret that black people are prejudiced against one another based upon their skin tone.

quote:

Basically says a lot of NBA players are "jealous" of Steph Curry because he wasnt raised "street" like they were.

This isn't a color thing. This holds true for all societies. The people raised poor are jealous of the ones that were raised comfortable or well off.

quote:

all NBA players want a white girl.

Most blacks do. They view white women as being a trophy or achievement over the white man. Ironically white men view a white woman with a black man as being tainted and off limits.

I’m reminded of one of my coworker who would always call Michael Jordan “darkness” , “midnight”, and “his black arse”.

Sure they can. In the spectrum of race though, that would be considered “most white” right? The Carlton character archetype. Carlton was corny

That's what you want to attribute it to.

mawkishly sentimental

The definition basically describes constantly making fake inspirational slogans. It isn't racial.

That doesn't mean the only way you can be corny is by being like Carlton.
Dwight Howard is the king of corny athletes and it's because he's still telling the same fart jokes into his 30s. Not racial.

Honestly most blacks I know in IR relationships/marriages don't think in those terms.

Some weird white folks think that way, but I'd guess they're in a quickly shrinking minority as well.

Also goes a lot into NBA player views on "lightskin" dudes. There may some racism towards dudes who are not "pure" black, or "darkskinned".

I know a white NBA player. He wouldn’t go as far as to say the black guys hate him or anything, but all his good teammate/former teammate friends are white. At least in his situation, he said there was a little division between the black and white players, they kind of segregated into their own cliques and kept to each other.

Also know a former prominent white CBB player, who played with guys who went on to play in the NBA. When he got married, he had two of his former white teammates in his wedding party. I think maybe one black teammate came to the wedding at all. He was a 4 year player and prominent player from day one so he had plenty of teammates.

I definitely think that kind of stuff exists in basketball.

this is weird as shite, to me... i played basically year 'round, starting from the age of 9 till 18, majority of teammates were black, and we never had a segregated anything... i slept at my teammates' houses, and vice versa... if anything, it made us all much less racist, in a very small, conservative south Louisiana town...

it must have been ingrained in me, because all the black techs i work with all say i must have been around a lot of black people when i was young, because i don't seem like a typical white guy...

You know, I know you post on the OT...

That's the majority of posters perspective on white women who've dated black.

One of the problems amongst that community. It's just like if someone talks proper, they say they're acting white and they get shunned by their own community. Misery loves company and if you're not acting street and talking street, they don't like you.

my mom spoke differently than her community and it got her out of a town of 100 people, excellent higher education, and an incredibly well paying job. I don’t think she gives two fricks what her “community” thinks of her vernacular

There is no greater privilege than being born with the size and athleticism of Lebron.

He is the poster boy for "born with privilege".

Liberals were upset at Chauncey Billups for saying Zion was raised right because he's from a two parent home. And, I noticed that most kids who were drafted in the latest NBA draft were from homes with two parents. So, hopefully we will have more Black athletes from stable homes who are stable minded. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing Black men from unstable single parent homes (not every single parent home is like this but the majority are) who are overly emotional and take every slight real or perceived as a reason to act out violently.

I'm a Black man. A lot of Black kids are jealous of Black kids from two parent homes. Sad stuff but it's real. Now, we got kids from two parent homes in basketball and football taking the athletic skill set that many underprivileged Black kids used for upward mobility. And, I love it. It's time for Black Americans to bury the hood is good mentality and start honoring being upright, privileged, studious, and clean cut.

I dream of a day when men are judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
