I’m not saying Steph doesn’t have a great work ethic, I’m saying the perception of his work ethic is like that of Kobe’s. Kobe had an almost mythical work ethic. Now if you want to question the validity of that perception is another thing, but still.

And for better or worse, LeBron has been the face of the NBA in the 2010s.

I wouldn’t say they are jealous of him. More like they view him as soft bc of his privilege childhood. Didn’t come up fightin in the streets.

This is not a black thing. More about status than color

This is a real thing in the black community, but the thing is, who cares? Sure, Steph didnt grow up in the mean streets of LA such as Demar or Kawhi(neither of those guys are thug type guys either). Steph didnt grow up hearing gun shots everyday.

Hell Steph might not beat alot of guys in a fight. But he will beat mostly anyone in a game of 1-on-1 every time. This is what matters, I don't know why people think they deserve extra cool points because they had a tough upbringing.

The hypocrisy in all of this is that LeBron and all these other haters want their children to have the life Steph had

Chris Broussard discusses racism among NBA players

Basically says a lot of NBA players are "jealous" of Steph Curry because he wasnt raised "street" like they were.

Despite they complain about the term "owner" when anyone with a FUNCTIONING BRAIN knows the originalist meaning of that in the context of employer/employee business, such disingenuous libtards

There’s more racism inside the black community over varying skin tones than between whites and blacks now,

There’s also a very big stereotype that, besides Muslims, the black community hates homosexuals more than any other group

It's kinda been praised so much that people want that as their origin story or think that someone who doesn't have that kind of hard knock upbringing isn't as laudable as a person.

If that’s the case, how come so many NBA players admire Kobe who grew up rich in a very affluent suburb due to his NBA-playing father?

Kobe for a decade live in Rieti while his dad played in Europe, they didn't come back to the States until '91

To be fair I think he actually said "lightskin", but weird anyways.

NBA players just need to find good girls from good families and stay away from insta-whores.

Agreed. Just find a good girl. Not easy to do with their fame though I guess.

The main criticism of RG III was that he was generally corny, which he is, and that had nothing to do with his race or how he talks.

This is complete nonsense. It obviously had everything to do with the way he acted and talked. What was the “corny” part? The stupid socks?? I mean, have you seen what brothers wear on the daily? “Cornball brother” and “corny” are code for not ghetto black enough. 100%

This is a key point. Most of the guys in the NBA who feel that way about guys like Steph are casting the spotlight somewhere else to keep up the charade that they lived a hard scrabble early life “in the streets”.

Truth is, the chances of someone really growing up in the streets and making it to the NBA isn’t that high. These kids are playing ball constantly in summer leagues and school and are being trained as NBA hopefuls right out of 8th grade.

Basically, half the NBA is a Michigan era Chris Webber

Colorism is definitely a thing in the black community or at least in some. It’s pretty absurd tbh

Tons of black people mock anyone darker than them and hate on anyone lighter than them.
