re: Can we go back to the BCS?

I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but what made college football great to me is that 1 loss had a great chance to kill any hope a team had for a championship. 2 losses completely killed any hope a team had for a championship outside of the once in a lifetime type of season in 2007. Now you’re going to frequently see 2 and sometimes even 3 loss teams win the championship
Even this season, no one other than Ohio State-Michigan fans really gave a shite after the Michigan upset because everyone knew Ohio State was still going to be in the playoffs with 2 losses and without even playing in the conference championship game. That game would have been absolutely massive in the BCS or even the 4 team CFP.
I know I’m just complaining to complain because we’re never going back to that. Instead, we’ll get another couple of playoff teams added in the next few years.

I don't remember anyone liking the BCS. I vividly remember many on sports radio bitching about computers deciding who played for the title. And someone always crying about who was left out. I don't miss it at all.
The biggest gripe most people had about the BCS was that it only took 2 teams when there were many years where #3 and 4 had very legitimate arguments to be one of the top 2 teams. You had undefeated teams get left out because they didn't play in the right conference. Hell, you even had undefeated Auburn in 2004 get left out only to watch #2 Oklahoma get boat raced in the title game. A 4 or 8 team BCS playoff would have satisfied a lot of the complaints against that system

This the same BCS that left an undefeated Auburn out of the championship game?

Then I'd rather not. 4 team playoff was better though

And that's exactly why I don't miss the BCS. It was too flawed. What we have now is much improved.

Wish we could but we can't. But we can make it to where you can't enter the transfer portal till after the national title game.
Then you have two weeks and that's it.

Is this a troll? Two teams that have been eliminated would be playing for the championship.
I’d take the BCS formula to determine the top 12 that qualify for the CFP. With zero auto bids.

It’s not even about getting different teams then we’ve seen in the cfp. The vibes/aura were just 100x better than it is now.
I don’t know how ESPN let the production of the playoffs become so poor compared to what the BCS was.
Watch this intro and tell me it isn’t 1000x better than anything we’ve seen in the last 10 years.

The entire SEC.
Prior to the BCS, you had biases and agendas determining who was the best. The BCS used computer formulas to pick the 2 best teams, and suddenly the national media darlings weren't on top anymore.
They've spent 2 decades trying to reverse that.

It’s sad. The BCS felt epic. Even the music was better. Now the games feel generically produced. Like someone said in another thread, you used to have Keith Jackson, Musberger, and Brad Nessler all calling BCS games. We are a far cry from that.

Having undefeated auburn not play for a title can’t happen. It just can’t
I too love the BCS but the above is the reason it failed

We would have enjoyed the game and not thought any differently of it.

The bcs continued for nearly a decade after auburn was left out.
The period after auburn was screwed was longer than the period before they got screwed

Change takes time
100% the fight for playoffs started after that 04 season

Will it be any better when Ohio State is up on Notre Dame by 30 in the 4th Quarter?
