Really dumb response from Cam and a SB would have done infinitely more for his legacy than the MVP that I literally never remember he has

Completely different questions

Is the HOF the same as one MVP season?

In the context that people are wagging their finger and stating that not taking a Super Bowl means you are selfish and care more about personal accomplishments than team wins? Yes

Neither makes you a bad teammate or someone who didn’t want to win or anything like that. Just makes them more honest than most.

A guy that claims to not be able to give his kids a comfortable life, because he doesn’t have money any more, and blew through his multi million dollar contract, is a selfish idiot? I’m shocked

Him backing away from his fumble in the SB was suspect.

That’s a career achievement versus a single-season one and is more understandable IMO.

He has to say that now.

There’s no way he would say that if he won a SB.

Everybody except for you and Cam Newton apparently.

He would probably have the complete opposite opinion if he had won the super bowl and not an MVP. He is just trying to justify his legacy. Unfortunately for him his legacy will always be tied to not going after his fumble.

Maybe I’m naive but I truly believe most players would choose the Super Bowl win over MVP.

It even sort of makes sense from a vanity point of view. Everyone knows Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. How many people remember (or care) that Rich Gannon won MVP the following year?

The only guys who immediately come to mind as MVPs are the ones who did it multiple times and did other things (like win a lot). In terms of how you’re viewed, Super Bowl win is a bigger deal than a single MVP award and it’s not even close….unless you’re just really selfish.

Winning an MVP is a reflection of one player playing the absolutely best he could have relative to his peers

While also relying on the rest of the team to achieve various tam goals. If every other one of his stats remains the same, but flip the 7-1 in 1 possession games, does he still win MVP if Carolina is 9-7?

I'd take the career earnings over both. But that's just me.

Nothing can help your team achieve the Super Bowl more than playing your individual position at an MVP level

So it’s really a silly question or premise. By being MVP he helped his team to a maximum amount. By “taking that away” in no real reality does that make a Super Bowl more achievable. The premise of the question is silly to me

I'd be curious to hear Matt Ryan's answer to the same question.

I'd venture to bet he'd say ring. But I could be wrong.

Classic narcissism.....

Because he was coddled because of his talent, always told he was the best thing since sliced bread, paid handsomely to play College ball....then had to say look at me Superman, whenever his TEAM did something well.so.... What else would you expect.... From someone who dresses everyday, Peacocking.

Dude coulda been an all time great but his lack of maturity and selfish attitude were always his biggest obstacle.

What made the lack of effort on that fumble so unforgivable was the circumstances and stakes.

If it were a blowout or a a regular season game between two 6-10 teams nobody would have much noticed or cared

It was late in the 4th quarter of the Superbowl in a one possession game, if theres ever a time to go all in and give yourself up physically in a play that's the time and place.
