Bud says boxing is the hardest sport to master. Let's see if he can master NFL quarterback.. apparently he thinks that would be easier to master than boxing.

He's not saying that he could master being a NFL QB. That doesn't mean that becoming an elite boxer isn't harder than becoming an elite NFL player. You're kind of misinterpreting his words.

I say they are all incredibly difficult and it depends on the particular skills each man possesses

Of course.

I agree. However, think about getting in the ring with Bud Crawford....not only would you be embarrassed, you would be beat up.

I don't think any particular sport can be considered the hardest to master. They are all difficult and greatly dependent on the person trying to master them.

Boxing requires so much physicality, toughness, power or foot speed, hand speed, endurance, etc. But how many men can play NFL quarterback at a high level? Not even 32. All sports are extremely difficult to master, that is why those who do make millions.

Boxing is humbling.

Quarterback is the most difficult position in all of pro team sports, while I do think baseball has the single most difficult act to complete, hitting a baseball thrown by a major leaguer. Basketball players are the best athletes, just being that big but also that quick,. hockey players are tough as frick though.

1a Boxing
1b MMA
2 QB

In boxing and mma, you have to fight and think. Very few can do that.

The sport of bodybuilding is easily the hardest. Requires 24 hr discipline with diet and training

Most have played ball sports or fought/boxed

Less then 1% have ever competed on stage in true bodybuilding.

Let’s see any NFL , NBA PGA players box Crawford or any of them play another sport. See how that works

He's kind of right, mainly because it's a one person sport. You can't have 30 elite players at one time like you can in baseball or football.

There can only be a very few people at the top.

I am a bodybuilding fan sort of a one of the main podcasts admits it is a low skill sport.

It does require the most discipline

Give me water polo or hockey. Most people would either drown or not be able to skate well enough to play properly

This speaks more to less than 1% of people being willing to sacrifice their testicles to the steroid Gods just to be the best at lifting weights.

I wouldn't even call it a sport

I’m sure plenty won’t agree, so what do you think is the toughest sport to become elite in?

Depends on how you define elite.

Everyone of prime age who isn’t handicapped can run 100 meters, but the competition to be the best at it may be higher than anything else in sports because running is such a fundamental athletic skill and talent is easy to identify and develop.

The skill of being a downhill skier is a lot higher than running, but the competition to be the best is much lower.

I think the debate on whether MMA was harder to be the best at than boxing was figured out when Randy Couture fought James Toney. It really wasn’t even a fight. A MMA guy with any level of decent training will just take a boxer down and it’s over. There are so many more aspects to being a MMA fighter than just boxing. Honestly the heavyweight UFC champ is literally one of the badest dudes on the planet.
