Bud Crawford: Boxing is still the hardest sport to master at the highest level

Interesting comment.
I’m sure plenty won’t agree, so what do you think is the toughest sport to become elite in? Note that he’s talking about getting to rarified air, not necessarily just to participate in.

Interesting. I wouldn’t have expected hockey to be second, but I can see it.
Rodeo feels too low, that seems like it’d be hard as shite.

I can see Lacrosse being real low on that list.
Everyone in HS who played Varsity football played Lacrosse but not everyone who played Lacrosse played football.
And the guys who were really into just Lacrosse weren't as good as the football players who just picked it up as a Spring sport as exercise.
They say Jim Brown was more dominant in Lacrosse than in football...

Did you actually read the whole list or just stop at 16?

Hot take: almost all sports are equally hard to master.
But ill give sports that dont have size requirements the edge because by definition, you got there based on pure mastery.
If you are a professional baseball player you are in a higher percentile for that skill than a basketball player. Because the N is larger.

Doesn’t make sense. Shouldn’t combat sports that also incorporate boxing, be higher? A boxer doesn’t have to worry about being kickboxed in the face.
And where is the science here? Sports AIDS Disney-ESPN is the opposite of science.

My answer:
Basketball
Can’t teach height. Jalen Brunson is the true alien, not Windmill Wemby.

Free Solo Climbing is pretty hard.

I agree. However, think about getting in the ring with Bud Crawford....not only would you be embarrassed, you would be beat up.
I don't think any particular sport can be considered the hardest to master. They are all difficult and greatly dependent on the person trying to master them.
Boxing requires so much physicality, toughness, power or foot speed, hand speed, endurance, etc. But how many men can play NFL quarterback at a high level? Not even 32. All sports are extremely difficult to master, that is why those who do make millions.

Kind of impossible to say, but it's certainly up there.

Yes. But let's see Crawford play in the NFL, NBA, PGA, etc.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Are you under the assumption that Mahomes, Wemby and Scottie Scheffler could have been an elite boxer?

Bud says boxing is the hardest sport to master. Let's see if he can master NFL quarterback.. apparently he thinks that would be easier to master than boxing. I say they are all incredibly difficult and it depends on the particular skills each man possesses.
