Does anyone know how long he had
Dementia? I remember seeing him in an interview a few years ago and he appeared to be doing well. Interesting that he was still doing signings.
If I remember correctly, Dean Smith stopped making appearances at least 4 years before he passed.

Game was already tied, and with his bad knees there was no way he was beating the batter to first base. Was always unfair to associate him with that play.
And there were a lot of other Red Sox who could have ended that one and didn't before it got to Buckner.
Always unfortunate when a long career gets reduced to one bad moment. RIP.

Would highly recommend the ESPN film “Catching Hell” to anyone who hasn’t seen it.
It’s about the Steve Bartman play but heavily focuses on Buckner. He was just a scapegoat but it goes into how he forgave Boston fans for how they treated him and embraced the Red Sox fully.
He was by all accounts a great man.

Red Sox fans universally agree that it was shameful how he was treated.
He got a huge standing ovation when he returned to Fenway
Really sad that a great career was defined by 1 play.

So sad how he was erroneously vilified for tge Game 6 error. The Mets had already tied it.

I'm a long time Cubs fan but I still think it is the best 30 for 30 I've ever seen.
The way the story moved back and forth between the 2 incidents was just great story telling.
RIP Billy Buck. He was a great man who overcame so much.

Thats an awful shirt. Where you get it from the state fair by those little glass mirrors of 80's hairbands? Oh no wait it wasnt airbrushed was it?
Posted on 5/27/19 at 2:29 pm to JEAUXBLEAUX
Why would you brag about having a stupid shirt like that in a thread about the man having passed away?
Jerk.

The hate he got from Sox fans was disgusting. He was an old man and should have never been in the game defensively.

Or as he is forever known in Boston. Bill frickin' Buckner
RIP Bill

Horrible fricking disease. My grandmother was diagnosed with this before she passed away.
Rest In Peace Bill Buckner

Dude was the definition of a contact hitter. Over 2700 career hits and he averaged less than 30 walks and strikeouts per season. Very little power or speed - just a guy who always puts wood on the ball.
You don't see guys like that anymore - utility guys who can play 5 different positions, be shuffled into a lineup and always hit around .300.

Cubs fans are pieces of dogshit for the way they treated Bartman. Their anger should be aimed at Alex Gonzalez for booting an easy double play immediately after that.

I like the nostalgia today, but I didn't like those in the 70's. They were one of the few baby blues I wasn't big on back then. I think the Cubs roads in the early 90's were their best. They need to bring back this sleeve patch, the big bear in the C looks like crap.
