Two of my fellow native Mississippians:
Marcus Dupree-best high school football player ever.

Had a book written about his recruitment. Very good read

Brian Cole-could hit a baseball as far and hard as anybody I've ever seen. Tragic.

There’s no way I would have believed Reggie Bush wouldn’t have a Hall of Fame career in the NFL after watching him in college

Lendale White was another one from the same backfield. Everything about him in college seemed like he was designed for a 10 year NFL career as a starter

Randy Livingston if he didn't blow out his legs before coming to LSU.

What if the Packers had drafted Barry Sanders instead of Tony Mandarich. Being in a more competent organization probably extends Sanders career a handful of years and would ultimately have been paired with Favre two years after being drafted.

The fault in this “what if” is making the assumption that the Packers were competent when Mandarich was drafted. If they would’ve drafted Sanders then maybe they go 8-8, Lindy Infante and Tom Braatz are not fired, the front office isn’t restructured the way it was, Ron Wolf and Mike Homgren are hired elsewhere….so no Favre, no Reggie White. They would’ve been maybe a wild card qualifying team with weak armed Majkowski throwing to Sharpe and handing it off to Sanders without the impact of having a Reggie White there to convince guys like Santana Dotson and Keith Jackson that Green Bay was a good place to play.

Sean Taylor

Can’t believe I missed this one. Probably my favorite player of all time. He was having an All Pro year before getting injured against the Eagles and well..the rest is history. He was going to be one of the all time greats at the safety position.

This highlight reel is still one of the most badass videos of all time and it’s just from his rookie season!

Getting in the face of Moss, T.O., Keyshawn as a rook. No fear.

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf: if his health and politics did not determine his NBA future, I could have seen him being in the pro basketball Hall of Fame.

I would love to know how the careers of Brady and Belichick would have played out if Brady had been selected by another team in the 2000 draft.

Ted Williams not having to go to two Wars would've made him the undeniable GOAT.

Marcus Dupree.

A legit Eric Dickerson clone, maybe more impressive.
