I think Kiper’s rant had more to do with them not drafting a QB to immediately replace Harbaugh and less to do with his thoughts on Trev Alberts (though Alberts did turn out a bust).

Harbaugh responded by finishing 4th in the MVP race in 1995 and having that Colts team, which had just one legit weapon on offense, within just a few plays from the Super Bowl.

As far as QBs go, other than the obvious ones of Leaf and Russell, Joey Harrington was worse. So was JP Losman.

The Colts picking Trev Albert #2 was god awful.

You're thinking Quentin Coryatt.

Worse than Jamarcus Russell first overall

To be fair, that 07 QB class sucked. It was either him or Brady Quinn.

I could at least understand the upside at the time here. I think. Trubisky was strange to go that high, but that's just my own opinion.

Not if you compare just the players, but there’s a strong argument to be made tribisky is the bigger blunder by the team because of all the other options that were on the table for that draft.

Saints drafted a very unproductive kicker at #11 overall

Russell Erxleben

LOL, no he isn't. His seat is one of the coldest in the league.

Even if that statement were close to being true, he'd be unemployed for exactly 0:00:01 seconds.

Where does the Bears drafting Mitch Trubisky 2nd overall in 2017 NFL draft rank in terms of worst draft picks of all time?
Not high up there at all. Plenty worse picks have been made.

But you have to remember who else was in the 2017 draft - frickin Mahomes and deshaun Watson!!

Well, if you use that logic then everyone drafted 1 through 9 are busts.

Yep, even the Browns taking Myles Garrett #1, that's a colossal frick up as they wouldn't be able to trade him quick enough for Mahomes right now, so Garrett is a bust. I didn't make those rules, but I gotta follow them.

Tomlin is going to get fired if he stays with Trubisky more than another game or two.

No he's not.

But to answer your question, I give it two more games tops.

I’m a vacuum it wouldn’t be an all-timer

But when you consider Mahomes & Watson went 10 & 12 it sure jumps up the list

What's interesting about that is there was a chance Josh Allen comes out in 2017 and is a first rounder. Saw an interview where he was considering it, and even went as far as telling his family that he was entering the draft; but when his HC called the day before the deadline he couldn't say No to him and decided to stay 1 more year.

Could you imagine your team having a shot at Mahomes, Allen & Watson, and they walk away with Trubisky

I mean there’s no way that’s true

I’m not saying he’s super close to being benched (probably not crazy far away from this), but he’s far from the safest starter in the league or anywhere near the top of that list

Right next to drafting Justin Fields in 2020.

No it was Alberts.

But I forgot that the Colts also picked Marshall Faulk that year.

Faulk went #2 and then Alberts was like #5?

But nonetheless still a poor usage of a top 5 pick.

These things happen.
