Where does the Bears drafting Mitch Trubisky 2nd overall in 2017 NFL draft rank in terms of worst draft picks of all time? In terms of just the sheer incompetence of the pick, I’d argue it might be the worst draft pick in NFL history.

Worse than Jamarcus Russell first overall or Ryan Leaf second overall?

a few short years later they took fields with the #11 pick. Probably not AS bad, but I mean..

eta: to get back on topic, I remember the dolphins like 10 years ago took some edge rusher from oregton somethign like 3rd when there were a TON of high profile picks that would have been better.

How much longer will Trubisky be the starter in Pitt????

Literally ALL of my Steelers friends want Pickett to start, and Tomlin is going to get fired if he stays with Trubisky more than another game or two.

He is now a 5 year starter in the nfl.

A 63% passer, 86.5 passer rating, and a 2-1 TD to INt ratio

He isn’t that good, but he isn’t even in the top 500 for worst picks

The Steelers are going to fire their Hall of Fame Coach (3rd coach since 19fricking69) who has never had a losing season if he plays the QB he wants for longer than 2 more games? STFU

Just looked back at the 2013 draft class and a strong argument could be made that the second round produced more talent than the first round!

Quarterbacks are a crap shoot most times anyway. Very few sure things no matter what draft you look at. I seriously don't understand how Mahommes wasn't rated higher coming out that season. He was amazing in college.

Not even close.

Had he been drafted by a more competent organization and had a decent coach, I still think Mitch could have been solid. Matt Nagy ruined him.

It should be at least discussed even though there are many worse cases.

Bears traded up for him.

I mean, let's not sugarcoat it, Trubisky is not good. The pick was definitely horrible, bc a lot of teams had bad evaluations on him.

In that sense, it was a horrible pick bc Chicago trusted their dumbass scouting department and GM when a lot of FOs didn't see him as a franchise QB. I remember the mock draft process I think all the rumors where Cleveland taking him with their 2nd pick in the 1st round.

To add salt to the wound they gave up draft capital to move up for him.

I’m a vacuum it wouldn’t be an all-timer

But when you consider Mahomes & Watson went 10 & 12 it sure jumps up the list

Not the worst pick in NFL history but it has set the organization back a few years since they had to draft another QB shortly thereafter.

As a UNC fan, I never could understand why Trubisky was THAT highly rated. He was a junior when he finally won the starting job. The year before, he lost the QB competition to Marquis Williams. Admittedly, he had a great August and September during his one and only starting season, with a great comeback win against Pitt. But the scouts fell in love with him during those two months.

The Colts picking Trev Albert #2 was god awful.

I think that was actually when Kiper smarted off on live TV about the pick.

Then the Colts GM was interviewed by Chris Mortensen and the GM gave Kiper the business.
