Breaking: Folarin Balogun will be available to play in USA's Round of 16 match against Belgium on Monday, FIFA announced.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has suspended the red card issued to the USA striker during their Round of 32 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As it always should have been based on the improper use of VAR.

I think TV execs see the monster ratings and pressured FIFA, maybe made a big donation. The best thing for sport is if US can go far. Its already popular everywhere else but US has the monster networks and advertising and would love to capitalize

Hopefully moving forward there should be an appeal process just for situations like this or in special circumstances

Going from a no call on field to a red decided by Var using slow motion and pictures isn’t justifiable

Glad they at least delayed it

Also seems interesting that all the europeans on Twitter are acting like this is unprecedented but seems like they literally did the same for Ronaldo at the beginning of the tournament?

I mean, anyone(including that piece of shite ref) could tell that was unintentional.

The easiest way to look at this is if that were Lionel Messi would they have given him the Red Card? The answer is No and he would probably not even been given a a yellow card in that situation.

We ride now.

They did, it’s hypocrisy and we have seen similar plays by lots of other players similar to the Balogun situation who didn’t even get a card at all.

That literally happened. Not even a foul was called. I think that is how they overturned this one because of that no call no foul on Messi
