Penn St has to knock it out the park with this hire

But what coaches would meet that criteria? Meyer? Saban? Kiffin? Smart? There aren't that many established championship coaches out there. Maybe Dabo is interested in a change of scenery?

So you'll trade someone you think as underpreforming for Campbell who can't win a Big 12 title. At least Franklin got his team to within a game of the championship.....or Daboll who can't do shiite in New York or Jim Mora,Jr who has been exiled to the backwater of Storrs, Connecticut....and has never won shiite either.....or Rhule who aside from one good year at Baylor hasn't done anything to write home about

They also had a randomly great season in 2005.

That team was literally one second from being undefeated in the regular season. Michael Robinson was a fun QB for them.

No, I wouldn't take any of those guys. Franklin hasn't won big but he's a good coach. Firing him was a bad move unless they have an ace lined up.

And they would have been passed over like in 1994. Texas and USC were on a collision course.

He was handed an easy path that wasn’t deserved.

Without that he’s done literally nothing except build the program up. He gets credit for that but that’s as far as he’ll ever go.

They may very well be about to pull a Nebraska. Then their cult can talk for decades about why they needed to fire him even though they've never been anywhere near as good since.

I hate Texas and USC and it was a great season top to bottom.

I think even if they won that Michigan game Texas and USC would have still been in he championship.

They weren’t passed over in ‘94. This was the pre-BCS era. They were tied to the Rose Bowl and Nebraska was tied to the Orange Bowl. They were never going to have a chance to play.

They decided to give Osborne his career achievement award and not split the title that year.

You don't think his seat is slightly warm there? He's kinda underachieved as of late

Some Nebraska boards are claiming that last night Rhule told his players he's not a candidate for the PSU job. Take that fwiw

Seems Penn St. was quick to pull the trigger on this. They must know they’re going to get that “elusive” home run hire.

Every time I think this it turns out the opposite.

Rhule is 2-23 against ranked teams in his career.

0-11 against Top 10.

Why would you fire James Franklin for 50m just to hire a worse version of James Franklin?

An Iowa fan is well qualified to render this opinion. Iowa, playing with historically bad offenses that have continued a steady decline since the 2009 season, has absolutely dominated them since they came to the league—and they’re supposed to be one another’s benchmark. Nebraska has suffered humiliations in this series they never thought imaginable, 56-14 drubbings at the hands of crap offenses led by statue QBs.

They’ve beat Iowa one of the last ten meetings. They’re a laughingstock who can’t even qualify for bowl games most seasons. Matt Rhule, simply by virtue of accepting that job, exposed himself as a fraud in search of a payday.
