I’m tired of Kobe being shoehorned into every all time debate since he died. Dude was consistently ranked as a 11-15 guy all time. Now that he’s dead a lot of casuals put him top 5 :puke:
You're pretty much admitting to being a casual with this take

I love Kobe, but LeBron James is a better basketball player than Kobe Bryant.

Paul Pierce didn't even have LeBron in his top 5 of all time.

So yeah, we can reasonably question these "qualified" people.

Talentwise? Yes
Intangibles? No
2-way consistency? No
Titles despite playing with two superteams? No

It's also not an exaggeration to say every available stat favors LeBron.

Not titles. Also not being a bitch counts for something in Kobe’s favor

I mean it’s kinda debatable whether LeBron really is a top 5 player of all-time because as many times as he excelled in the big stakes, he’s melted down almost the same amount of times, he’s underachieved relative to his talent and that’s because he’s mentally weak all it is

The top 5 all-time players are
1. MJ
2. Kareem
3. Larry Bird
4. Tim Duncan
5. Magic/LeBron/Russell/Kobe

Who was a better general manager, Jerry Krause or Michael Jordan? Being good at basketball does not equate to being a good judge of talent.

That’s a pretty poor comparison. It takes much more than just being able to evaluate talent to be a good general manager. First and foremost, they need to be able to hire and manage other front office talent.

Regardless, are you suggesting guys that play professionally at a high level with the guys being discussed are generally worse at evaluating and comparing the skills of those players than people that never played professional basketball?

ETA: You might be able to argue that they’re biased but I think Ray Allen is a much more reliable authority when it comes to comparing MJ and Lebron than just about ANYBODY that’s never played with/against both of them.

The ones ranking Kobe over LeBron, yes, I am saying they have poor talent evaluating skill.

Elgin Baylor, Isiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, Chris Mullin, Kevin McHale...there are a lot of great players who have been poor talent evaluators.

Full disclosure, I didn’t watch the video. Maybe those guys all suck or are biased.

I still think professional athletes are GENERALLY better at evaluating and comparing players they played against/with over just about any other segment of the population.

Lets be honest, he had the Championships but Kobe's legacy was that he played forever.

LeBron seems like he's going to play forever too.

You can rack up a lot of stats playing forever.

But they got that jump on other HOFers by not wasting years and years in College.

LeBron won 4 MVPS
Kobe won 1

Larry Bird won 3 in row
Magic won 3
Jordan won 5

Kobe never took over the league like those guys did.

If you dont even have Lebron in your top 5, it is obvious you are extremely biased and not being objective. If you hate Lebron just say it.

We all know that the MVP is a shitty way to judge someone on their career in the NBA...

Jordan should have won like 7-10 in a row (minus the retirement seasons)

Before that it should have basically been Magic or Bird every year.

After MJ it should have been Shaq like 5 times, then Kobe at least 3 times and Lebron should have a lot more than 4

Your point’s well-taken however Kobe was probably the best total player that decade from an ability standpoint and he supported that notion with his performance throughout except the failed Rudy T experiment, just so happened to thrive the same time as Duncan, prime Shaq, LeBron, KG, Dwight Howard, Iverson, Melo, Nash, Dirk, Wade, so deep with all that parity but Kobe emulated Jordan as well as anyone could that time, was the total package of all of them when we factor in Mamba Mentality
