I'm liking Catholic New Iberia in Division III select with the way they're playing.

Luke Hewitt and Izaac Andre are a mean starting combination.

Anyone have any thoughts/info on Riverdale? (I know, I know, whoever takes this series has BM next round, but just curious anyway!)

PHS and Riverdale played last season but I figure these are different teams this year, at least I know PHS is...

Riverdale isn't terribly talented but the coach has put together a decent program for what they are. They've passed up many of the surrounding public schools in baseball. They'll put some okay arms on the mound, but won't be terribly deep after the starters. They hit bad pitching but will struggle with anything above average.

They were SO happy we left that district… John Ehret beat us once for district, and before that, Grace King, and Higgins beat us once to share it, but Riverdale and EJ came close a few times but never did

Well, they are defending champs, and they have plenty complementary pieces. I've followed them pretty much the last 2 seasons, knowing some of the parents from my years in NI. Have to agree with you because it seems when the pitching loses control, they manage to score runs in support every time.

I don't recall them facing a lot of top end pitching, but I did witness the Teurlings game vs Vincent, who struggled, yet Teurlings managed to win. Trappey pitched that game and fielded his position flawlessly, getting the lead runner on sac bunt attempts every time.

There is no clear cut favorite in this division. U-High recently lost to PBHS, who has the arms to win a series, but could never manage to score enough runs or play well enough defensively to win 2 out of 3 against a well coached team. Probably worth mentioning I'm hearing they will get back their overall best player who hasn't played any significant time this year. He could be worth 2 runs a game with his bat and speed.

no offense but bro....you got to have some self perception. Chalmette is not good at anything besides having nice facilities. you brag about them the whole time and whine about the district and having to play tough games or kids wanting to go to better schools

bottom line is yall need better coaching. yall have an opportunity due to faculties but yall need someone that understand real development and off season programming.

I can’t wait to watch Douglass at Tara this weekend.

Oh wait this is baseball?

Prayers to officials working that series.

Appreciate the great info.

I was at Notre Dame at Vermilion Catholic on Monday.

Think I got confused on some stuff in my article. I was on the sixth day of a heavy workload. Fatigue must have got me.

I saw you picked St. Louis to reach the finals.

I was impressed with Vermilion Catholic 2028 RHP Cruz Hebert. 5 IP, no decision in loss. Been impressed with Notre Dame INF Drew LeJeune since football. Was told that VC 2028 Cole Albert, who got the win at P in the finals last year vs. OCS, is out. He was evidently able to hit for a short period of time, but that's off the table.

Clean, VC has had a pitcher that’s been pitching since his freshman year I can’t remember his name but he’s a stud. Do you know who that is?

You would have loved Cristo Rey at Lafayette Christian doubleheader 5-6 years ago.

Umps ended LCA's first inning in both games because Cristo Rey couldn't get three outs.

LCA scored at least 20 runs in the first inning of both games.

They have two sophomores that are really good.

Cruz Hebert has a ton of movement on a hard breaking pitch. Don't know if they call it a slider, but it appears to be one.

Cole Albert also 2028. He's 6-foot-5 and beat OCS in the finals. That might be who you're thinking of. He's reportedly out for the season both pitching and as a hitter.

They have solid coaching in all sports and have since I’ve been around sports. Heck in 70s and 80s in Catholic league they were never a layup.

Problem has always been geographically isolated - only bordering Orleans parish. - so no cross parish migration like say ascension or st Charles get.

Heck one year where hc was a top ten team all year more 1/3 of starters were from parish.

Then came Katrina many generational families never returned and the socio demographics of the parish dramatically changed

And private school bleed had always hurt them

you sure....i mean they made the playoffs the last 5 years but only but they have done nothing. They are a huge school and should be much better than they are. They only make the playoffs 60% of the time.

its the constant whining that gets on my nerves.

VC has a lot of quality arms, but Albert is far and away their best. Without him, they likely don’t get back to Sulphur unless their bats come through.

I've made no predictions, that would be a couple other posters. I haven't seen enough of all teams in every division to venture even a best guess.

My attendance to high school games is limited. Not an ump or reporter. Do a lot of box scores from GC

Yeah, that’s my bad. You’re a great poster and LSU 777 is as well. I saw informative posts from each and thought I was replying to him I’m still pretty drained.
